Top 5 Possible Reasons Your Car Ditches You

Top 5 Possible Reasons Your Car Ditches You

Has your car ever refused to start? Surely, it would have ditched a few times if not many. And if you are driving a vehicle from a long time then you must have undergone such a situation in your life. The tantrums of a machine can certainly freak you out at times but you have no choice other than dealing with it. There can be several ways a car can force you to take a cab to your office on normal days. Out of those we have compiled a list of top five reasons why your car refuses to start. Detecting these issues in time can help in making your life easier, so what are you waiting for? Read the following section to know more.

Issue 1- Battery

One of the foremost and most possible reasons that your car doesn't start is the issue with its battery. Straight away move to the front and open the hood of your car. Locate the battery and check if there are any carbon deposits on the battery terminals, if yes then clean the leads and try switching the ignition on. Another possible reason can be the complete battery failure or your car’s battery is temporarily down due to an accessory which has been left on (such as lights etc). The first case means that your car’s battery is dead and you need to get it replaced while in the other case you need to visit a battery repair shop, which could help in recharging your car’s battery through the alternator.

Issue 2- Fuel

Another most common and frequent reason for a faulty or absolutely no start of your car is low fuel. Sometimes, we tend to overlook the fuel indicator in our cars and that calls for the moment when your car simply refuses to start. There can be two cases, one you haven’t paid attention to the fuel indicator in the past few days while the other is false indicator reading. Both the cases land you in trouble as the car won’t start in any of the cases. But, the problem doesn’t end here if you are a diesel car owner, as it won’t just get start by refueling the engine rather require a complete flush of the system to remove the air (this isn’t the case in every diesel car as some of the modern diesel engines are indeed very advanced). Whereas, in a case of a petrol car, you can just refuel it to get started.

Issue 3- Fuse

Your car’s fuse can be blown off if you have integrated any aftermarket accessory which puts an extra load on the electrical supply of the car. You need to rectify the issue before the ignition switches on your car. And, to be completely sure, you need to check all the fuses of the car and then get started.

Issue 4- Starter Motor

This is a rare issue, however, is one of them which won’t get things started. If you turn the keys on of your car and the engine doesn’t crank rather makes a humming sound, it is a high possibility that your car’s starter motor is at fault. The issues, which might indicate to starter motor’s failure is the disruption of the belt connecting the engine and the motor. Apart from this, a connection system failure also hints at the faulty starter motor.

Issue 5- Spark Plug

The spark plug is responsible for getting the engine started, but if the plug present inside the car are worn out it won’t allow the engine to start. This is possible in the case of petrol cars, which can surround you with trouble clouds. However, cars with one coil system will not start at all whereas the multi-ignition coil cars can spark the engine to start with all wrong reasons.

All the above-mentioned issues won’t let your car start until detected and rectified. Apart from these, there are more reasons that can keep you and your car on hold, which we would cover in our future articles.
