Toyota Fortuner or Mitsubishi Montero Sport: Winners in Different Aspects

MANILA: In the Philippines, the mid-size SUV segment is on fire with two new contenders namely 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and 2016 Toyota Fortuner. You may have come across many comparisons between these two beasts, but coming to a conclusion is difficult. We won't blame anybody, as both of these cars compete head to head with each other. All this is happening because of growing popularity of SUVs among Filipinos. But before buying an SUV, one must consider many aspects like engine and performance, dimensions, exterior and interior as well. 1.Engine and Performance

Talking about the engine, the 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport comes out as a true winner with its 2.4-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine which churns out a maximum power of 178 hp along with a peak torque of 430 Nm. These power figures are much high as compared to the 2.4-litre engine of Toyota Fortuner which is capable of delivering a maximum power of 147 hp along with a peak torque of 400 Nm. So if you are looking for a performance oriented car, then Montero Sport should be your choice.

2. Dimensions

Moving over to dimensions, Fortuner is 10 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and 30 mm taller than the Montero Sport. This gives the Fortuner a more masculine look. Although, the wheelbase of Fortuner is 50 mm shorter than Montero Sport, but it does not count due to its huge dimensions. So if you are looking for a huge beast, the Fortuner should be your car.

3. Exterior

Going by the exterior of Fortuner, it has got a more futuristic look as compared to Montero Sport. While Montero Sport has got standard LED headlamps, Fortuner is inherited with new-age bi-beam projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights. Moreover, the front fascia of Fortuner is more aggressive thanks to its three-plate chrome grille. If you look at the exterior, Fortuner is blessed with a more contoured body along with its embossed body lines. But what makes it a true winner is its stylish design language.

4. Interior

As far as interiors are concerned, Montero Sport takes the first spot undoubtedly. While Fortuner has got a beige-black cabin, Montero Sport features an all-black cabin which looks very futuristic. Moreover, if we talk about the infotainment system and other technical features, Mitsubishi has not compromised on any point. Montero Sport features a Multimedia Entertainment System, Multicolour Multi-Information Display, engine start stop button and reverse camera as well.
