Toyota Motor Philippines celebrates local motorsports with the final leg of the 2022 Vios Cup
The Toyota Vios is arguably the most popular sedan in the country, offering features and performance that cars at the same price point can only dream of and a level of practicality that any budget can swing. It is one of the most versatile and practical vehicle choices that many families and business owners make whenever they buy their cars, and this is true even on racetracks! When talking about motorsports in the country, you definitely have to mention the Vios Cup, which has been developing racers using the trusty Vios since it started eight years ago.
Put on your racing suits, strap in your 3-point racing harnesses, and head on over to the Clark International Speedway this November 19, 2022, for the penultimate leg of the TOYOTA GAZOO RACING Vios Cup 2022! Experience the heat of the thrill as many of your favorite celebrities and media personalities duke it out with up-and-coming as well as hard-core racers as they take the One Make Race Vios Cup car around the track in the Super Sporting, Sporting, and Promotional classes of the Circuit Championship race and the Autocross Challenge!
The TGR Vios Cup is the country’s premiere, grassroots, one-make racing series, featuring a standard Toyota Vios 1.5 G variant with a manual transmission with various bolt-on modifications readily available for anyone who wants to fulfill their racing aspirations.
Modifications under the hood include a Limited Slip Differential to improve traction going to the front wheels, and an upgraded sports Clutch Kit finished off with an upgraded exhaust system to improve airflow and increase horsepower. Lighter alloy wheels and chunky rubber, paired with a stiffer suspension kit and sportier brakes keep the car planted on the road while sick body kits improve aerodynamics, and of course, make the car look amazing! For safety, racing bucket seats, a tow hook up front, a 6-point roll cage and a 3-point racing harness keeps the driver focused on winning their respective race.
Toyota Motor Philippines first waved the green flag for the Vios Cup way back in 2014. The goal was to promote grassroots racing and show everyone that the Toyota Vios isn’t just a car you flag down for a ride, or the default choice for families but can also provide a solid racing platform for anyone who wants to go fast! Throughout the years, the racing series has grown from a promotional event to an all-out racing extravaganza featuring racing teams out to prove their mechanical prowess and driving skills. It is a showcase of engineering and teamwork with the winner taking home the bragging rights of being the King or Queen of all Vios!
This year, a total of 56 racers in various racing classes and events put their money where their mouth is and hit the track. Celebrities and media personalities have also been an integral part of the festivities in order to further promote the welcoming nature of the racing event. This year we’ve seen the evolution of Vios Cup regulars, Troy Montero, Fabio Ide, and Daniel Matsunaga into full-on race car drivers bringing home the bacon against the best drivers in the country.
A new batch of fresh faces in the Autocross Challenge showed everyone their best racing mugs as the event featured media personalities and celebrity influencers. With Carla Lizardo, Bianca Yao, Gino Quillamor, and Ashley Gosiengfiao, among others, throughout the season, they brought new awareness to the TGR Vios Cup. Competition is fierce as in each of the different classes, the racers give it their all with the burning desire to win it all.
In the spirit of Gazoo Racing, fans can also get the chance to purchase some sweet Toyota GR swag from the GR Garage booth as well as genuine Toyota and Gazoo Racing parts and accessories to live their Gazoo dreams. The GR Yaris and GR 86 will also be on display as well as sponsor booths for ease of access and the opportunity to spice up their daily drives.
The final leg of the TOYOTA GAZOO RACING Vios Cup 2022 promises to be an event full of excitement, energy, and most importantly fun for the whole family! Admission is free, just make sure to bring your vaccination cards in order to enjoy an entire day of Gazoo Racing celebrations! Fans can join the online discussion via the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines and Toyota Motor Philippines Facebook pages.
