1,700 Traffic Violators Apprehended in Metro Manila in May - LTO
MANILA: A total of 1,737 motorists were apprehended in Metro Manila for different traffic violations in May, according to the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Majority of the 420 motorists who violated Republic Act 4136 had received tickets for reckless driving, operating a vehicle with faulty accessories, disregarding traffic signs, and not having their OR/CR.In a statement, LTO National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Roque Verzosa III said that the apprehensions were made by enforcers from the LTO, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) during regular operations.
He stated that majority of the LTO apprehensions were due to violations of Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, Republic Act 8750 or the failure to put on a seat belt, Republic Act 10054 or the failure to wear a motorcycle helmet, and Republic Act 10666 or the Children's Safety on Motorcycles Act.
Verzosa said that the majority of the 420 motorists who violated Republic Act 4136 had received tickets for reckless driving, operating a vehicle with faulty accessories, disregarding traffic signs, and not having their OR/CR.
Meanwhile, 255 motorists were apprehended for not wearing a seat belt, 57 were for not wearing a helmet, and 253 were educated by enforcers on the importance of observing traffic rules.
Verzosa stated that in addition to the LTO apprehensions, DPWH enforcers deputized by the LTO-NCR apprehended 781 motorists for violating the anti-overloading law.
Meanwhile, PNP officers apprehended 97 motorists for not wearing a motorcycle helmet, eight for not wearing a seatbelt, and 119 other offenses.
