2015 Ford Everest Scores Perfect 5 Stars in Australian NCAP
MANILA: A highly tough and capable SUV, Ford Everest has recently scored a full 5-star rating at the Australian Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) which indeed is a good news for all those Filipino SUV lovers who drive it and now know that it is super safe to drive it. It can be said that the car has inbuilt capacity to handle every rough terrain and unexpected obstacles and now with this news the confidence in it further rises only.
This premium SUV has scored 35.38 out of 37 available points. The model which was tested was a 4X4 Everest variant fitted with a 3.2-litre diesel engine, the same engine which is found in our Philippines too. The car scored 15 out of 16 points with head and upper leg protection while the chest and lower legs scored 3.77 and 3.61 points respectively. The SUV gained full 2 points in the Pole Test and full 4 points in the side impact test. Further, the test marked the whiplash protection 'good' and the pedestrian protection as acceptable.
The ANCAP reports also stated that during the test, the passenger compartment was well held in shape while the pedal and steering wheel displacements were well controlled. The doors remained closed during the crash while the driver and passenger contact with the airbag was stable. The doors could be easily opened with normal efforts after the crash. In terms of safety features, the stable and sturdy Everest comes with all standard safety feature like dual front, side chest, side head airbags (curtains) and driver knee airbags, EBD with advanced seatbelt reminders fitted on the front and second row seats.
