2015 LA Auto Show: Honda Civic Coupe Makes World Debut
MANILA: Honda 'Civic Coupe' has made its world debut at 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Japanese automaker has said that the 2016 Civic Coupe will feature the same sporty look like the tenth-gen sedan variant launched recently in September, with more 'emotion and flair.
Jeff Conrad, Sr. VP of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and G.M. of the Honda Division, says, “ We continue on our epic 10th-generation Civic journey with the sportiest, most sophisticated and tech-savvy Civic Coupe yet. I think our customers are going to be utterly surprised by what this new Coupe delivers in terms of refinement, safety, efficiency and fun-to-drive performance.”
Akin to the tenth-generation sedan variant, the all-new coupe also sits on a new lightweight-rigid platform, which is constructed out of ultra-high strength steel to allow the vehicle have a light overall curb weight in addition to better torsional rigidity. Visually speaking, 2016 Civic Coupe flaunts a more aggressive look while retaining the distinct profile of the original sedan.

The front fascia of the coupe showcases Honda’s Solid Wing Face running smoothly to the headlights. Unlike the sedan variant, it gets revised headlamps featuring HID and halogen lamps.
On the side, there is a sloped roofline that runs smoothly across the entire length of the coupe.
The rear side of the coupe features a diffuser integrated rear bumper, trunk-mounted spoiler and a taillight trim that covers the entire width of the cluster.
Inside, the coupe features a one-piece soft-touch instrument panel, premium fabric seats, new full-color TFT center display, LED shift indicator and a leather-clad gear lever. Take note that the TFT display and leather-wrapped shift lever are only available on the EX and higher-spec models. of 2016 Honda Civic Coupe. Moving to infotainment, 2016 Honda Civic Coupe gets a 7-inch Android OS-based touchscreen system featuring audio streaming, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and Honda’s own Satellite-Linked Navigation System that was developed in cooperation with Garmin.
The powertrain includes two engine options: one is 158hp/187 Nm 2.0-liter DOHC, i-VTEC engine and the other is 17hp/219Nm 1.5-liter Direct-Injected Turbo VTEC engine. Like the sedan variant, the 2.0-liter DOHC, i-VTEC engine can be mated to a CVT or 6-speed manual gearbox while the 1.5-liter Direct-Injected Turbo VTEC engine will only be available with a CVT. In terms of safety, 2016 Honda Civic Coupe will feature the Honda Sensing Safety, Driver Assist Technologies, and New Advanced Airbags. The coupe is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in March 2016.
