2016 BMW M6 GT3: Finally Comes Out, All Race Ready at Frankfurt
MANILA: Racing is all over in the air, it seems that the auto industry is finally giving the much-needed attention to the racing world, well no offence to the hard work already done in the said field. But 2015 seems to be a bit special in bringing all the good news to the hard-core and freshly budding racers. After Hyundai, it's now time for some BMW racing car. So, let's welcome the 2016 BMW M6 GT3, looking all ready to leave its counterparts behind in the racing tracks.
Successor to its ongoing powerful big brother Z4 GT3, this sports car is said to be stuffed with features and machinery that increases its performance, efficiency, drivability and also economy by manifolds. So, the 2016 championships will see private teams racing in this new BMW creation, apart from the BMW Sports Trophy event.

Moving on to its stunning looks, the car is blessed with a wide smooth hood that has an additional air vent to keep the beast resting underneath cool and calm, so that it continuously maintain high-performance figures. Rolling your eyes a bit downwards, you'll see a sharp looking pair of headlights and the standard BMW kidney grille. The fog lamps are a bit captivating and are now seen resting in an oversized case.
The rear profile, like the front, carries big wheel arches that now gets air vents for the rear break, a memory refreshed from the long seen back E9 3.0 CLS race car from the 90's. In addition, it also gets a raised rear spoiler, stylish BMW taillights, and a rear diffuser.
Enough of the exterior talks, moving inside you will see a cage like cabin space (if that's what it is called). A whole lot of weight reduction regime has been followed and this fact becomes prominent from the extensive use of carbon fiber on the seat and on the technical looking dashboard. Also, the door panels are now better called the carbon fiber panels because of the extensive use of this black metal. And all these efforts are not in vein, as the BMW car is now able to shed 600 kg and now weights 1300 kg.
Safety is another area were a lot of efforts have been poured in, BMW has developed an FIA-approved safety cell that is stuffed with latest safety features. Under the hood, it is powered by the same 4.4-litre V-8 engine fitted in the M6 road car, with a confirmation that the engine will be tuned a bit differently to suit the race track conditions.
Testing of the said sports car began long back in May 2015, and the car has been spotted a number of times doing rounds in Nurburgring. With not much time in hand BMW is undergoing some final check-ups for its new sports car, so that when it debuts it is all set to compete and comes out winning in flying colors.
