BMW X6

Sharing its layout with the X5, the cabin of the BMW X6 has ‘Sensafin’ Decor Stitching upholstery, M Headliner Anthracite and M interior trim finishers in carbon fibre. The curved full-TFT cockpit behind the three-spoke multi-functional M leather steering wheel has individual screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system, with the latter supporting the latest version of the BMW iDrive and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. 

The wide AC vents on the corners of the dashboard and sleeker AC vents in the centre console also get satin silver surrounds, while the central layer of the dashboard has a diamond-themed gloss black pattern that extends to the lower centre console and the inner door handles.

The lower centre console features a cut crystal glass theme for the transmission lever, start-stop button and iDrive controller. The X6 is further equipped with a four-zone automatic climate control, powered and ventilated front seats with memory functions, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger and a premium Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

The BMW X6 was the pioneer of the SUV-coupe trend, and the current form takes the baton forward with a sleeker and more proportionate design than ever before. While it still has the bulk of its predecessor, the new X6 executes that in a more athletic manner. 

The edgy-looking front profile of the new X6 still comes with a double kidney grille, which now has angular edges on the sides, while having dark satin silver surrounds and satin silver vertical slats within it. The new X6 now features restyled headlamps with arrowhead daytime running LEDs and dynamic LED headlamps, along with a restyled front bumper that has vertically aligned L-shaped air curtains on the sides and a prominent and busy-looking air dam in the middle. 

The eye-catching sloping roofline is the primary highlight of the side profile of the BMW X6, with the SUV-coupe also having a more angular rear quarter glass, slightly squarish wheel arches and 22-inch M double-spoke machined alloy wheels. The rear profile has combination LED tail lamps that look slimmer than those of the X5, along with an integrated spoiler on the boot lid and satin silver surrounds for the exhaust ports. 

Being an M Sport variant, the Philippines-spec BMW X6 also gets the M Aerodynamics Package, M High-gloss Shadow line, M Roof rails High-gloss Shadow line, M Carbon mirror caps, and M Carbon rear spoiler.

The X6 is equipped with a number of engine options to deliver the performance as per the users’ need. The efficiency followed by the BMW X6 lies between 6.0 litres to 9.7 litres per 100 kilometer depending upon the engine under use.

Like the BMW X5 on which it is based, the X6 also impresses with its ride and handling balance, despite all its size and bulk. This SUV coupe has dynamic damper control and xDrive all-wheel drive technology, which keeps it sure-footed with minimal body roll even at higher speeds. The X6 also gets additional features like Sport and Sport+ drive modes, dynamic steering control and dynamic performance control for added thrills in its driving pleasure. 

The BMW X6 xDrive30d M Sport variant on sale in the Philippines shares its 3.0-litre inline-six diesel engine and the 8-speed automatic transmission with the X5. Claiming 282 bhp of maximum power and 650 Nm of maximum torque, this 3.0-litre diesel engine delivers 14.1 kmpl fuel efficiency in the BMW X6. 

The active driving assistant package of the BMW X6 includes ADAS features like frontal collision warning, blind-spot assistance, lane departure warning, automatic city collision mitigation and braking, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, traffic jam assist, emergency stop assist, evasive steering assist and reverse automatic emergency braking.

Other standard features like eight airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree parking camera.

While the limited headroom and boot space might make the X6 look less practical than the X5 on which it is based, the former is still more of a style statement, which delivers more dynamism in its appearance and driving behaviour, thanks to its SUV-coupe design.
