2016 Honda Civic Philippines to Feature a Turbocharged VTEC
Update: Civic 2016 will make its Philippine debut at the upcoming MIAS 2016 and will feature some exciting new changes. Moreover, Honda Civic’s price was also leaked online recently. The 2016 Civic is offered at PhP 1.1 million, while the second and the highest ‘RS’ trim is offered at PhP 1.3 million. The biggest change is the inclusion of a turbocharger on i-VTEC powertrain that underpins all the variants. The standard Honda Civic Engine will be a 1.8-litre turbo engine while, the brand new trim Civic RS will be offered with a smaller 1.5-liter turbocharged mill matted to a continuously variable transmission. With only 7 days to go before the autoshow, it won’t be a long wait for the Filipinos before the highly awaited sedan shows up.
Manila: Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) has recently confirmed that the 2016 Honda Civic compact sedan will arrive on these shores featuring Honda's all new VTEC turbocharged engine beneath its bonnet.
The upcoming 2016 Civic will be running in its tenth-generation with an all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four engine. This engine is touted to churn out maximum power of 174 hp along with a maximum torque of 220 Nm. This engine will be faster and fuel efficient than its predecessor 1.8L unit and will be coupled with the exclusive Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) as a part of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology.
Sources also suggest that Honda is planning for a 1.8L naturally aspirated unit as well for the 2016 Civic, however it is not yet certain whether it will be the reminiscence of its earlier generation or a completely newer unit. Because in the US, the 2016 Honda Civic is coming with a 1.5L turbo and 2.0L i-VTEC powermill.
The changes in the all-new 2016 Civic vs 2015 Civic are endless. It cannot be called just as a facelift, in fact, it is a completely revamped version of the earlier trim. This time it is more dynamic, more advanced, more elegant, more economic and more powerful.
The exteriors are completely changed this time with Honda's Road Sailing (RS) design featuring all new LED headlights with LED DRL's. The 2016 Civic will be second in line to feature this design strategy after the widely celebrated MPV Mobilio in Philippines.
Interiors of the all-new 2016 Honda Civic loses out the split screen dashboard on 2015 Honda Civic which looked more futuristic, now it is replaced with a set pattern of other carmakers with single screen. Interior room is also enhanced in the newer one along with a 33 hp power hike than its previous model.
So brace yourselves Filipinos to own this Japanese masterpiece soon in the country as HCPI plans to launch it here early. HCPI has also confirmed the reservations of the 2016 Civic sedan at all of the authorized dealerships in country.
According to the sources, both the 1.8 E and RS Turbo trims will be made available in the following colours: White Orchid Pearl, Rallye Red, Cosmic Blue Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic and Midnight Burgundy Pearl.
