2016 Hyundai i20 WRC: Every Racers Dream
MANILA: It’s time now to showcase some high-performance Hyundai mean machines. Yesterday night, this South Korean automaker displayed its N performance line-up that unlike its other cars are more energetic and withholds some great potential. After displaying its N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept, it was now time for some racing retreat, the i20 WRC rally car.
All the racing and speed enthusiasts present at the 66th Frankfurt Motor Show loved this new creation from Hyundai. Taking clues from the next-generation i20 hatchback, the displayed model showed a five-door body type, unlike its three-door predecessor. That said, you can now expect some major changes that come attached with this new racing beast. Overall if compared to current WRC model the car is rated higher on performance and efficiency, and all this thanks to its new aerodynamic friendly body style and weight reduction regime.
Albert Biermann, Head of Performance Development & High-Performance Vehicle Division said, "By revealing this exciting high-performance sub-brand N to our customers, we're changing and challenging expectations of the Hyundai Motor brand. Drivers will soon experience the thrills and emotions of our proven motorsport prowess for themselves. Our future model line-up will include performance-oriented and race-track-capable cars with full of energy. They're just the start of what we know will be a fast and exhilarating journey."
Moving on, dubbed as the New Generation i20 WRC the car now sports a meshed grille with letter N imprinted (signal towards its N family membership), swept back headlights and a vented hood on its front profile. Sliding towards the side, one can hardly miss those big, boxy front and rear fenders, small popped out ORVM and also those prominent looking wheel arches that house a multiple spoked wheel. What remains common is the appearances of letter N (as if we doubt it or what).
The rear side, now that's what's called a rear spoiler. A huge double layered rear spoiler is a perfect addition to its rugged, masculine looks and if we are not mistaken, they are equipped with a third break light. Further, the car is also getting a new pair of extended taillights, a rectangular exhaust and rear bumper with a whole lot of back body cladding.
With just three legs behind the main event in the 2015 world Rally Championship season, Hyundai Motorsport is currently ranking second with the top position occupied by Volkswagen. What else in known is that the car is currently undergoing testing rounds to gear up for its next bib debut at the Rally Monte Carlo.
