2016 Toyota Hiace to Undergo Major Changes, Gets New Engine, Price Hike and a New Variant
MANILA: 2016 Toyota Hiace new engine comes as after party treat for fellow Filipinos who were recently accorded the all-new 2016 Toyota Fortuner. Seems like Toyota has planned to acquire every inch of the Philippines market in 2016, given near to zero chances to its competitors. The new 3.0L Hiace will replace the long resting 2.5L mill that came paired with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox. Earlier available in three trims – Commuter, Super Grandia and GL Grandia, all generating maximum output of 102 PS at 3600 rpm and maximum torque of 260 Nm at 1600 to 2400 rpm.
From now on, 2016 Hiace variants will read as- Hiace Commuter 3.0 M/T, Hiace GL Grandia 3.0 (M/T & A/T), Hiace Super Grandia 3.0 A/T, and Hiace LVX Super Grandia. The new 3.0L Hiace will generate better power figures to be obvious, so now get ready for 136 PS of power at 3400 rpm and 300 Nm of peak torque at 1200-2400 rpm, making it a van built to race. Thus making the all new Toyota van the most powerful vehicle currently present in the Toyota line-up, ever heftier than the recently launched Toyota RAV4. The 2016 Toyota Hiace price reads higher than the older version, starting from PhP 1,309,000 and ending at PhP 2,420,000.
To be more precise, new Commuter 3.0L is available in monotone cabin upholstery and will have a manual transmission, being the cheapest among the lot, it will cost you PhP 1, 309,000. As for the new GL Grandia trim, it will come in both manual and automatic transmission, the M/T in monotone option costs PhP 1,660,000 and PhP 1,675,000 for a 2-tone option. Similarly A/T GL Grandia price is PhP 1,725,000 for Monotone option and PhP 1,740,000 for 2-tone one. The 3.0L Super Grandia is the only one available in leather upholstery, it monotone version costs PhP 2,090,000 and 2-tone version costs a little more at PhP 2,105,000. For those of you who feel it is too much, there is a fabric option too that costs PhP 1,935,000 in monotone option and PhP 1,950,000 in 2-tone option. As for the new Hiace trim, the LXV Super Grandia base variant price is PhP 2,405,000 and its white pearl option is priced at PhP 2,420,000.
The said advancement in Toyota line up partly justifies the end of its rumored tie-up with India ruling Suzuki and full acquisition of its half subsidy Daihatsu. It seems this Japanese brand wants to conquer the auto world single handedly without giving its share of success to any other auto brand.
