2017 VW Golf to come loaded with new powermill across all the variants
MANILA: The eighth-generation 2017 VW Golf is expected to be launched by the end of the year 2016. The recent reports reveal that the model will be based on the upgraded version of present MQB platform - the MQB Evo platform which is said to be more reliable and performance driven. Recently, major rendering of the VW Golf GTI is being carried out by the renowned car illustrator Julien Jodry which is trolling in the auto industry. As per the resources, the new Golf could also come with a GTI performance variant.
Under the hood, the next-gen Golf will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which would be capable of yielding 286 hp of maximum power. The automaker may also come up with a mid-hybrid system with the next-gen Golf. Moreover, the new Golf will be available with front-wheel drive only and the upper trims like RS models shall offer all-wheel drive. The automaker may also offer more efficient diesel engine variants in the coming years.
The next-gen Golf will be a complete cost savior with the modified MQB Evo platform. The model is said to be 45 kg lighter than the current model and the narrow-angled 2.5-litre or 3.0-litre V6 gasoline engine could propel up to 300 hp of maximum power with relatively higher torque.
The diesel variants of the 2017 VW Golf is also expected to be based on the latest e-Boost technology. The company has stated that the Euro 6 diesel-powered engines will come with a urea-injection system which ensures proper follow-up with the emission regulations. The urea-injection systems help in neutralizing the NOx emissions, but eventually it adds cost and weight to the car. The German automaker is using the methodology because the dealers have been banned on selling 2.0 TDI engines for the time being due to the diesel-gate scandal.
