2018 Daihatsu Terios revealed
MANILA: After Toyota’s 2018 Rush, it was time for Daihatsu to place its bet in the B-segment compact SUV segment and it came up with its new 7-seater SUV, Terios. Yes, the 2018 Daihatsu Terios is finally revealed in the Indonesian market to take on the likes of Honda BR-V and Mitsubishi Xpander. The new SUV is based on the FX crossover concept, which was first showcased at the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
The SUV looks aggressive with its upswept headlights, four-slat grille and bold bumpers with round fog lamps. The side profile is quite similar to the recently revealed 2018 Toyota Rush and gets five-spoke alloy wheels, side skirts, and large wheel arches with black plastic cladding. The wrap around taillights, shark fin antenna and black plastic on the bumper complete the rear profile, giving it a bold look.
In the cabin, dual tone color scheme gives a decent appeal, with leather upholstery in the top variant. In terms of equipment, there is a big touchscreen infotainment system with an around-view monitoring system and automatic climate control. The three-spoke steering wheels with audio controls come as standard in all the variants with leather covering in the higher-end variants.
Under the hood, there is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Dual VVT-i engine that has the potential to pump out a maximum power output of 104 PS at 6000 rpm and peak torque of 136 Nm at 4200 rpm. The engine is further coupled to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. In terms of safety, the 2018 Terios is packed with airbags, hill-start assist, anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution system.
Let’s see how the new seven-seater SUV from Daihatsu performs in a highly competitive segment.
