2018 Volkswagen Touareg Spied Testing
MANILA: It seems like Volkswagen has a tedious second half planned ahead of itself. It was only yesterday that we informed you about 2018 Volkswagen CC that was caught running around at VW testing facility in Nurburgring. And now there is another one with a VW badge that has been caught on camera partially covered in a black veil. What makes these spy shots even more special is the fact that it is for the first time next-generation Touareg prototype has been seen by the world. Also, in addition to Touareg, Volkswagen this year around will showcase three more high-riding models, one of which will be a new mid-size 3-row SUV.
Coming back to the VW spied recently, the third-generation Touareg looked quite different from the one currently running on-road. One major change that we observed was on the length front, as the next-generation Touareg looked smaller over the present day version. This fact becomes clearer with its shorter rear overhangs that now are way less prominent than before. So, one thing is clear that 2018 Touareg remains a mid-size, five-seater that's compact than before.
Also, as can be seen from the images, the spied prototype had covered front and rear portions, with only side profile captured naked in the camera. And it is here that we noticed changes like bold character lines running above the door handles and a chrome strip that follows entire side length. In addition, the new Touareg when launched is expected to come along with ORVMs located at a different spot than before.
Unlike 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan that underpins less expensive MQB platform, all-new Touareg rather rides on VW's MLB Evo platform that is shared along with the likes of 2017 Audi Q7, and last year debut Bentley Bentayga. The same platform is said to be adopted by new Porsche Cayenne and new Lamborghini SUV.
Images of the 2018 Touareg interior are still unseen but is expected to carry upmarket features. To the probable list are included semi-autonomous tech, digital instrument cluster and driver assist system.
Under hood specifications are yet to be revealed but one thing is for sure that in the later stage of its life a plug-in hybrid option will be available in 2018 VW Touareg.
So, look out for 2017 when the said car will arrive in showrooms as 2018 model, but hold on this info is U.S market centric. As for the Philippines market, we are yet to receive any update.
