2019 Honda Civic Sport arrives with a six-speed manual transmission option

MANILA: Honda, the Japanese auto company, has introduced a new Civic Sport trim in both coupe and sedan body styles with a six-speed manual transmission option. The new versions also get Honda Sensing Technology as standard along with some minor updates in terms of designing.

2019 Honda Civic LX and the Sport variants will derive power from a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. Only this petrol powertrain comes paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The engine, if not highly robust but quite potent, is capable to generate a maximum power of 160 PS and churns out 187 Nm of torque.

The Honda Civic EX, EX-L, and Touring trims will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol powertrain that produces a peak power reading 176 PS and a peak torque of 219 Nm. These variants will be paired with a CVT gearbox.

The 2019 Civic models come with minor exterior changes and feature additional upgrades. The vehicles come with a sport badging, custom exhaust, smoked headlights, a glossy black finishing touch on the grille’s ‘wing’ element, and stand on large-sized 18-inch alloy wheels. New chrome appliques are spotted on the front bumper and the lower bumper. Honda has introduced the refreshed 2019 Civic in three different color options that are Platinum White Pearl, Molten Lava Pearl (only for Sedan), and Tonic Yellow Pearl (for Coupe only).

2019 Civic Sport interior includes red gauge additions, upholstery feature combined cloth and synthetic leather, standard 8-speaker audio system, a steering wheel enveloped with leather, aluminium sport pedals, shifter etc. One can find paddle shifter for CVT-equipped models only.

As of now, the new variants will be available in America only. Whether and when they will arrive in the Philippines is not known yet. The price tag starts from $20,345 (Php 11,00,573).
