2020 Atlas to be the next Geely model in the Philippines

MANILA: Geely is finally back in the Philippines. And, the Chinese automaker has straight away jumped into the toughest battle of the automobile industry, the SUV and crossover segment. While Geely has already launched the Coolray in the Philippines, we all are now anticipating what could be the next offering by the automaker, aren't we?

And guess what? Geely has itself has burst the bubble and revealed the next model slated for the Philippine auto market. Following the Geely Coolray and its Plug-in Hybrid EV model that will soon land on the Filipino shores, the next Geely offering for the  Philippine masses will be the Geely Atlas SUV.

Geely displayed the China-spec Atlas SUV at the inauguration of its flagship dealership in Metro Manila, and the sibling of the Coolary flaunts a sporty and alluring stance. The front fascia of the Atlas SUV incorporates the trademark Geely grille with the brand's logo sitting right in the centre.

Moreover, the headlamps are slim, and the front bumper features matte chrome or shall we say silver trims both at the top and the bottom. The chrome accent extends to the ORVMs, window garnish, side-cladding, rear bumper, and even the tailgate where a chrome trim joins the two slim taillamps. Heck, the roof rails are also finished in matte chrome/silver. The profile of the Geely Atlas SUV is bestowed by dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the interior of the Geely Atlas features black leather upholstery, panoramic moonroof, 10-inch infotainment system, and a flat-bottom sporty-looking steering wheel with audio and telephony controls.

While we do not have any substantial information about the powerhouse that will serve the Geely Atlas with the needed juices, the SUV is said to come housing a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder gas-fed motor that can churn out 175 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 255 Nm. This is the same engine that powers the Atlas's sibling Coolray as well.

The Geely Atlas SUV will land on the Filipino shores in the first half of 2020 and is expected to boast a price tag of Php 1,300,000.
