2020 Honda Jazz teased ahead of its 2019 Tokyo Motor Show debut
MANILA: Honda finally confirmed that the fourth-generation Honda Jazz would make its global debut this Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Honda has been keeping mum about the 2020 Honda Jazz for a while now until it leaked a teaser of the compact hatchback featured on what looks like a Japanese brochure or magazine. And now, we have some details before its global unveil.
Honda has confirmed that the new generation 2020 Honda Jazz (or Fit in some markets) will be launched at the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. The company reiterates in a press release, “without compromising the outstanding usability of the current Fit, the all-new Fit will come to market as a vehicle which will ensure occupant comfort and make their daily lives even more enjoyable.”
Accordingly, the new Jazz will sport a crossover body style and will get a new two-motor hybrid powertrain. This will join the other engine models that include a 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine (for the US, Europe, and some Asian markets) and diesel engine variants in some select markets.
In terms of design, the 2020 Honda Jazz sports a more refined exterior and interior without going too outlandish like the current-generation Honda Civic. It has more curve appeal than the current version too. The front exterior sports round headlights and a more prominent grille. At the rear, there is a large bar trim and taillights that stretches to the tailgate.
Inside, the dash has minimalist, streamlined design with a touchscreen infotainment system mounted at the center, right beside the 7” instrumentation display, which comes as standard. Depending on the model, the infotainment monitor can be upgraded to a 9” screen. The new Honda Jazz will also feature bucket seats on the front and magic seats at the back for flexible seating that can be tucked away to make room for more cargo space. Top-of-the-line models will also have contrasting color-scheme for the dash and seats.
In its home country in Japan, the new 2020 Honda Jazz will be sold in five variants: Fit Basic, Fit Home, Fit Ness, Fit Luxe, and Fit Crosstar. The Crosstar model will be an off-road themed Honda Jazz. That features a more prominent grille and sporty bumper treatment coupled with black plastic wheel arch protectors, and taller suspension.
