2020 Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 gets updated with few tweaks
MANILA: What makes the Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 a popular car choice among Filipinos is that they are perfect for city driving. There’s no fuss about it—it merely gets you from one point to the next, it’s compact enough to weave through traffic, fuel-efficient, and the price point is just right.
Recently, Mitsubishi Thailand reinvigorated the Mirage and Mirage G4 with a few tweaks here and there. So, what can Pinoys expect from the new 2020 Mirage model, scheduled to launch during the Motor Expo 2019 at the end of November? Here is what we know so far.
The new Mitsubishi Mirage will sport the same Dynamic Shield design we usually find on other Mitsubishi cars like the Xpander, Montero Sport, and Strada. Also, expect the lamp layout separated with the LED headlights sandwiched between the daytime running lamp at the top and the fog lamp at the bottom.
Under the hood, the 2020 Mirage line will be equipped with a DOHC MIVEC 1.2-L, 3-cylinder, 12-valve gasoline engine that can churn 78 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 100Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The mill is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission or INVECS-III automatic transmission.
Standard features available for all versions of the new Mirage are the following:
- Automatic Climate Control System
- ABS anti-lock braking system
- ASC Stability Control System
- BA brake reinforcement system
- EBD brake force distribution system
- HSA Slope Assist System
Active safety security systems like the frontal collision warning system use radar waves that assess the distance from the front of the car to avoid a collision. In addition, the momentary engine power cut system automatically warn and cut off the engine moment for the driver to brake the car in time will also be installed. But we think that these added security features might be available on the top-of-the-line variants or an optional feature for other models.
There is also news that there will be changes in the available trims for the Mirage model. Specifically, the ES trim—which is the basic model for the Mirage G4, will be discontinued. Instead, the Mirage G4 will start with the LE trim as its entry-level variant. Will there more new variants coming to replace the ES? We’ll soon find out a few weeks from now when it gets launched during the Motor Expo 2019.
