2020 Mitsubishi Mirage, G4 revealed in Thailand
MANILA: Barely a month had passed since spy photos of Mitsubishi Mirage made rounds online. Then, just last week, the Japanese carmaker released a teaser image of the hatchback and its sedan brother, the G4. Now, it’s official. Mitsubishi has finally unveiled the two vehicles in Thailand – the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage and Attrage, which we know locally as the Mirage G4.
Mirage and Mirage G4 have been updated with Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield. It’s similar to the design language presently used in the Montero Sport, Strada, and Xpander.
The iconic front grille is set higher than in previous models, with chromes and slats reaching out to the headlights and bumper’s apron. On the Mirage hatchback, you’ll notice red highlights in these areas, while the G4 sedan has them in chrome instead for a more upmarket feel.
To complete the new look, the “bug-eye” headlights have been replaced by sleek, wrap-around LED units. The hood, fender, and rear bumpers have also been restyled, with the Mirage G4 getting a trunk spoiler.
Both models feature new taillights, larger reflectors, and faux diffusers. They’ve also been fitted with a fresh set of 15-inch alloy gloss black wheels. The sedan will have elegant silver-finished rims, while the hatchback gets sportier two-tone diamond-cut rims.
The door and quarter panels, as well as the trunk lid and tailgate, remain unchanged for the 2020 Mirage and Mirage G4. The interior design is also largely carried over from previous models, save for a few upgrades.
Inside, the hatchback and sedan have a new front armrest and “soft-feel” cloth finishing on some areas. Both vehicles will come with a 7-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Higher-priced variants get redesigned seat patterns with piping and stitching accents. When combined with the faux leather seats of the Mirage or the fabric and faux leather seats of Mirage G4, the cabin’s elegance is elevated by a few notches.
All changes aside, the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback and the Mirage G4 sedan will have the same 1.2-litre gas mill mated to a 5-speed manual or continuous variable transmission. The five-year old engine is capable of delivering 78 hp of maximum power, and 100 Nm of torque.
Mitsubishi launched four variants for each model – the base models GLX MT and GLX CVT, the mid-range GLS CVT, and the high-end GLS-LTD CVT. In Thailand, these variants will be priced accordingly:
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage GLX MT – THB 474,000
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage GLX CVT – THB 509,000
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage GLS CVT – THB 574,000
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage GLS-LTD CVT – THB 619,000
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLX MT – THB 494,000
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLX CVT – THB 529,000
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLS CVT – THB 579,000
- 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLS-LTD CVT – THB 624,000
Fans of the Mitsubishi Mirage will have “Sand Yellow” as an additional color option. Now that Mirage and Mirage G4 have been officially unveiled in Thailand, let’s hope that Mitsubishi Philippines will be launching them next in the country.
