2020 Toyota Corolla Altis is here in the Philippines, starts at Php 999,000
MANILA: The wait is over as Toyota, at last, has launched the much-awaited 2020 Corolla Altis in the Philippines. The newest compact sedan by Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) comes riding on the TNGA platform and for the first time, gets a hybrid powertrain. Also, the sedan sports a fresh and true to 2019 appearance. Starting with the front end of the 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis, the 12th generation sedan flaunts a pair of slim & slightly upswept headlights, C-shaped corner bezels, wide front grille, and a sporty bumper that gets a black lower air intake.
The side profile of the 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis is bolstered by 17-inch or 16-inch alloy wheels depending on the variant. At last, the rear end gets a revamped trunk lid and brand-new taillamps.
As a whole, the 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis looks nothing but a sleek and sensuous sedan. The inside of the 12th generation sedan is a comfortable and plush interior. A three-spoke steering wheel that vaunts both multimedia & cruise control buttons, redesigned instrument cluster, and a fresh automatic climate control system.
Just like any other car from 2019, the 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis also features a floating touchscreen infotainment system that gets all of the AM/FM radio, Aux, USB, Bluetooth, CD/DVD, and T-Link for Android or iOS device connectivity along with a six-speaker sound system. Some features that are exclusive to the range-topping model are electronic parking brake, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear sunshade, and leather seats.
The non-hybrid variants of the 2020 Toyota Corolla Altis get power from a 1.6-litre 1ZR-FE four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i that can be mated to either a six-speed manual or CVT. The power figures read 121 PS of maximum power at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 153 Nm at 5200 revs.
The hybrid, on the other hand, houses a 1.8-litre inline-four 2ZR-FXE that makes 97 PS of maximum power at 5200 rpm and a peak torque of 142 Nm at 3600 revs. Thanks to the electric motor, the total power output goes up to 121 PS. The three different driving modes on the hybrid variant are Eco, Normal, and Sport. Moreover, the EV mode enables the sedan to run on electricity alone.
On the safety front, all the variants get seven airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, vehicle stability control, security alarm, and hill-start assist. Parking sensors and reverse camera are, however, exclusive to the range-topping models. Furthermore, the 1.8 V Hybrid also flaunts the Toyota Safety Sense, which equips the sedan with the likes of pre-collision system, lane departure alert, dynamic radar cruise control, automatic high beam, and lane tracing assist.
