2024 Ford Ranger Raptor announced in North America ahead of PH launch. Specs revealed

MANILA: The Ford Ranger Raptor,  teased at this year's Manila International Auto Show, has been announced and will arrive in North America in 2024, according to the automaker. The Ranger Raptor is constructed with uncompromising suspension design, power, purposeful technology, and tough aesthetics and is founded on a tradition of performance that has been demonstrated. The Ranger Raptor is completely equipped to handle the toughest terrain available to its customers looking for extreme adventure.

“[The> Ranger Raptor is the high-performance off-road truck so many customers have been begging for. It’s right-sized for tight trails and daily life, can carry lots of gear, and is a blast to drive. Ranger Raptor is fast, comfortable, and packed with top-shelf, purposeful technology that’s designed to perform. This is the baddest Ranger we’ve ever made,” Ford Performance Chief Engineer Carl Widmann underscored.

Orders for the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor will open later this month, and the vehicle will be available later this summer. It will be proudly built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.

2024 Ford Ranger Raptor Fox Suspension and Drive Modes

The heart of every 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor is its suspension. Starting with a specially designed suspension, the Ranger Raptor has a long-travel rear suspension with a Watts linkage and trailing arms for control and confidence in off-road conditions. The upper and lower control arms are made of lightweight aluminum. The truck's new Fox 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks have piggyback reservoirs at the back and coil-overs up front to prevent heat buildup and provide consistent performance throughout the day.

The fully boxed frame of the 2024 Ford Ranger is beefed up by strengthening the front frame rails, front shock towers, rear shock brackets, suspension mounting points, and other critical sections so the Ranger Raptor can withstand more demanding off-road conditions.

Based on the drive modes selected for the Ranger Raptor, the Fox Live Valve Internal Bypass system modifies damping performance. The modes, which range from Normal through Tow/Haul, Sport, Slippery, Off-Road, Rock Crawl, and Baja, were all created to improve ride quality, on-road comfort, and off-road control at both high and low speeds.

The tuning of the engine, transmission, ABS calibration, traction control, steering, throttle response, and even the appearance and information on the instrument cluster and touch screen are all suitably adjusted for each available drive mode. Additionally, the active valve exhaust system has settings for Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja racing. Additionally, the Ranger Raptor has Trail Control, which lets the driver maneuver through challenging terrain while the vehicle controls the brakes and throttle.

2024 Ford Ranger Raptor EcoBoost V6 Engine

Amazing suspensions should be supported with equal amounts of power. Twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 with Ford Performance tuning delivers 610Nm of torque. The most potent Ranger ever constructed, with the best-in-class maximum available 405hp and best-in-class torque for improved performance on gravel, dirt, mud, and sand.

A race-bred anti turbo-lag technology is used by the engine, which starts with a compacted graphite-iron cylinder block, to enable boost on demand in Baja mode. As a result, acceleration is available when coming out of corners since it keeps the turbochargers spinning for up to three seconds after the driver releases the gas pedal. An innovative four-wheel drive system with a new electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, as well as front and rear locking differentials, is connected to the EcoBoost engine through a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that is unique in its class.

2024 Ford Ranger Raptor Exterior and Interior Highlights

Each Ranger Raptor design feature has a specific function. LED projector headlights that light up the night and are flanked by C-clamp trademark lighting set the tone for a confident, contemporary style. A steel bumper with integrated, frame-mounted front and rear tow hooks and LED taillights that create the vehicle's recognizable C-clamp link to the front sits atop a grille with large F-O-R-D lettering. On 17-inch wheels that can be fitted to optional Beadlock-capable rims with available bead locks for running extremely low tire pressures in the sand and rough conditions, aggressive 33-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires with functioning fender vents are mounted. Ranger Raptor has excellent underbody protection as well. High-strength steel forms the substantial front bash plate, which is reinforced with shields specifically designed to protect the engine, transfer case, and fuel tank.

With features like a 360-degree camera and front view camera to help with off-roading, Zone Lighting to illuminate the night in remote areas, and class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist to aid in backing up boats and campers in the kinds of remote locations Raptors are built to reach, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor connects the driver to adventure. Raptor has a high-resolution 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch center touchscreen with SYNC 4A, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto wireless smartphone connectivity because even in the distant reaches of the world, drivers want to be informed and connected. Last but not least, a Bang & Olufsen sound system is available to play passengers' favorite tunes if the active exhaust does not give enough auditory excitement.

The Ford Raptor family includes all of its trucks and SUVs. All of the F-150 Raptor models—including the F-150 Raptor R, Bronco Raptor, and the newly released Ranger Raptor—are intended for fervent performance enthusiasts who desire a vehicle to handle their most challenging adventures. Even a prototype 2023 Ranger Raptor showed its strength by winning the stock midclass division of the Baja 1000, finishing the course in 26 hours and 21 minutes. After traveling nearly 200 miles to California from the finish line, it then went home.

The all-new Ford Ranger Raptor was teased at the Ford pavilion at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show but no specs were revealed.
