GWM Cannon

The cabin layout of both Pilot and SLux-Lux versions of the GWM Cannon feel different with distinctive upholstery options and slight alterations in their layouts. While the GWM Cannon Pilot has a dual-tone black and walnut brown leather upholstery theme all around, the GWM Cannon SLux and Lux versions have an all-black theme with a textured finish on the dashboard and door panels.

The driver’s cockpit of the GWM Cannon looks different in all three versions. While the four-spoke tilt adjustable multi-functional steering wheel is common in all, the instrument console behind that is different – an analogue console with a 3.5-inch TFT MID in the Pilot and a full-TFT 7-inch screen in the SLux and Lux versions. The 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system is common to all the versions, though there are slight variations in the looks of the components around them.

The Pilot version gets sleek vertical AC vents in the centre console and trapezoidal AC vents on the dashboard corners, with them getting contrast silver accents. On the other hand, the AC vents of the SLux and Lux versions look slightly different. The panels for the automatic climate control in the lower centre console of the three versions also look slightly different from each other, though in all, it comes with a contrasting silver finish. In its fully loaded version, the GWM Cannon also comes equipped with premium features like powered front seats, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, air purifier and a 6-speaker audio system.

A lifestyle pickup truck needs to look rugged and premium at the same time, and the GWM Cannon fits the bill with its overall appearance. In all three versions – Pilot, SLux and Lux, the GWM Cannon feature a rugged and heightened stance, with a more premium appeal visually visible in the latter two versions.

The three versions of the GWM Cannon majorly differentiate from each other based on how they look from the front. The Cannon Pilot has a trapezoidal grille with curved sides and trapezoidal headlamp housings with curved lower edges, coming integrated with LED projectors and daytime running LED strips.

On the other hand, the SLux and Lux versions have a more intimidating and premium look at the front, with a more imposing, chrome-bathed trapezoidal grille, chrome surrounds and chrome slats, with curved trapezoidal headlamps featuring dual LED projectors and daytime running LEDs within them, attached to the sides of the grille.

Also, while the Cannon has blacked-out front bumper moulding, the Lux and Lux versions have contrast silver-coloured bumper moulding, which extends over the rounded wheel arches on the sides. The side profile of the GWM Cannon looks clean and free of curves and creases – while the Cannon Pilot has body-coloured door handles, rearview mirrors and B-pillar, the SLux and Lux versions have blacked-out B-pillar and chrome-finished door handles, rearview mirrors and front fender garnish.

The three versions also have different designs for their 18-inch machined alloy wheels. At the back, the GWM Cannon has vertically aligned tail lamps with curved upper edges – while they have red housings in the Pilot version, they have a clear lens look in the SLux and Lux versions.

The GWM Cannon, in the Lux and SLux versions, is offered with four driving modes – Standard, Sport, Eco and 4L in their all-wheel-drive variants, which make it an effortless vehicle to drive even in adverse terrain conditions. Riding on 18-inch alloy wheels, the GWM Cannon comes with a rugged suspension setup, comprising of a double wishbone at the front and leaf springs at the rear, which feel a bit bouncy at higher speeds and corners.

All three versions of the GWM Cannon come with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine as the standard engine option under their hood, which is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox in the Pilot version and 8-speed automatic transmission in the SLux and Lux versions. This engine claims a maximum power output of 161 PS and a maximum torque output of 400 Nm and is offered with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options.
