5th-gen Subaru WRX to arrive in US dealerships next year

MANILA: Subaru of America, Inc. has announced the pricing of the 2023 Subaru WRX performance car, which will be available by the first half of 2023. The fifth-generation of the Subaru WRX will come in four trim levels: Base ($30,605 to $32,455), Premium ($33,105 to $35,155), Limited ($37,495 to $39,745), and GT ($43,395).

The 2023 Subaru WRX is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine that produces 271hp at 5,600rpm and 258lb-ft of torque from 2,000 to 5,200 rpm. The Subaru WRX comes standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring.

The Subaru Boxer engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission with optimized gear ratios and finely tuned shift quality. The Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT) is standard on the 2023 Subaru WRX GT and available on other trim levels. The automatic SPT provides quicker up and down shifts and includes adaptive shift control that can respond rapidly to conduct rev-matching downshifts under braking, uphold the ideal ratio through corners, and respond quicker on corner exit.

The 2023 Subaru WRX is built on the Subaru Global Platform which provides a substantial upgrade in ride and handling performance from the previous generation, thanks to improved chassis rigidity. The enhanced platform, which includes full inner frame construction and increased use of structural adhesive, provides a 14% increase in front lateral rigidity, 28% increase in overall torsional rigidity, and a 75% increase in suspension mounting point rigidity versus the previous-generation Subaru WRX.

The 2023 Subaru WRX has a wide-body design that creates a strong stance and daring look. At the front, Subaru’s signature hexagonal grille is partnered with compact LED headlights and a broad hood scoop to highlight the wide and low look. On Premium and higher trims, the rear deck lid incorporates a low-profile rear spoiler in matching body color. The rear tail lights' illumination is designed to look reminiscent of volcanic magma.

The 2023 Subaru WRX is also equipped with roof rack mounting brackets and 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in summer performance tires.

All Subaru Starlink Multimedia systems for the 2023 Subaru WRX come with seven-inch high-resolution touchscreens with on-screen controls for audio, climate, and vehicle features. It is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Other functions include AM/FM stereo, Rear Vision Camera, SiriusXM All-Access radio and Travel Link, and HD Radio.

The 2023 Subaru WRX continues its tradition of outstanding performance and value with a long list of standard features including power windows, door locks, and side mirrors; dual USB-A input/charge ports in the front center console; Welcome Lighting; remote keyless entry; and combination meter with color LCD; Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control with Track Mode; and Incline Start Assist. The Subaru WRX comes with 60/40 split fold-down rear seats for greater versatility.

The tablet-style 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink Multimedia Plus infotainment system and the award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology are available for the 2023 Subaru WRX. The Subaru Starlink Multimedia Plus infotainment system offers a split-screen display that can simultaneously show two types of information. The EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, on the other hand, includes Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto Vehicle Hold, Paddle-Shift Switches, SI-Drive, and Electronic Parking Brake.

An 11-speaker Harman Kardon Speaker System and power moonroof are available on Subaru WRX Premium and are standard on higher trim levels. Also standard on Premium and higher trim levels are LED fog lights, low-profile rear spoiler in matching body color, headlight auto on/off linked with windshield wiper operation, Dual Automatic Climate Control with Voice Activation; and All-Weather Package that includes heated front seats, side mirrors, and windshield wiper de-icer.

The top-of-the-line 2023 Subaru WRX GT brings near-luxury refinement and performance to the legendary sports car. Exclusive to the Subaru WRX GT is the electronically controlled dampers with Comfort, Normal, and Sport settings.

Recaro Performance Design front seats guarantee the occupants are securely supported during performance driving. The seats are trimmed with black Ultrasuede with contrasting red stitching and the “Recaro” logo embossed on the seatbacks. The driver’s seat has eight-way power adjustments. The performance seats are matched with black Ultrasuede embellished throughout the interior. The Subaru WRX GT is fitted with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels in matte gray finish with 245/40 R18 summer performance tires.

Select 2023 Subaru WRX trim levels also come with the latest generation of Subaru Starlink Safety and Security. Available emergency services and convenience features include Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Recovery, Vehicle Diagnostic Alerts, and Remote Engine Start with Climate Control.
