Subaru Evoltis

Step inside the cabin of the Subaru Evoltis, and you might not be vowed too much by the layout, but the sense of practicality it possesses. The cabin layout looks simple and a bit dated as compared to those of the other similarly priced full-sized SUVs. But the fact that all controls are in easy reach and all the required features are there in the cabin does help matters a lot.

The simple-looking driver’s cockpit of the Subaru Evoltis lacks a fancier full TFT display for the instrument console, but the dual-pod unit it gets is quite informative with the colored MID in between. The long vertical design for the centre console looks decent, with the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system being the centre of the attraction here.

For its price, the Subaru Evoltis is decently equipped with features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, 10-way powered driver’s seat with memory function, 4-way powered co-passenger seat, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, Harman Kardon music system, three-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated seats, cruise control and many more.

The Subaru Evoltis might be the latest vehicle from Subaru at the time of its launch, however, the SUV looks a bit dated and bland by modern standards. The overall design lacks the bling factor which the current-day SUVs wear with pride. Nevertheless, the size and stance of the Evoltis do make up for it.

At the front, the Subaru Evoltis looks very simple with the trademark hexagonal grille, which is the biggest in any Subaru vehicle to date. The grille gets chrome surrounds and multiple horizontal slats within it. Also similar to other Subarus is the design of its headlamps – the sweptback angular headlamps look cool with LED projectors and daytime running LEDs. There are additional chrome strips above the fog lamps, which get black plastic surrounds to make the SUV look tough from the front.

The side profile of the Subaru Evoltis has a good upright stance like a traditional SUV, with high ground clearance, lifted bonnet, slim body cladding above wheel arches and at the bottom of the door panels and thick roof rails. The SUV manages to look premium enough with all the additional chrome here, around the window panels, within the side body cladding, and for the door-mounted rearview mirrors.

The Subaru Evoltis has a very simple-looking design for the rear profile as well. The curvy and wide-looking tail lamps and the thick strip of chrome joining them combine to make the SUV look wide from the rear. Other prominent highlights of the Subaru Evoltis’ rear-end are the chrome strip at the bottom of the boot lid and tough-looking cladding on the rear bumper.

The Subaru Evoltis gets Macpherson struts at the front and a double-wishbone at the rear, which is much like those in any other rugged vehicle from Subaru. This suspension has been tuned on a softer edge to make sure that the SUV does mile-munching duties very comfortably. The third row of seats feels a bit cramped for taller people, but apart from that, the Evoltis feels like a very spacious and comfortable long-distance vehicle.

The Subaru Evoltis is one of the few offerings from Subaru to get a turbocharged petrol engine to power it – here, in its case, it’s a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. Coupled with a CVT gearbox, this engine makes 260 PS of maximum power and 375 Nm of maximum torque, making it the most powerful SUV/crossover engine from Subaru.

Thanks to Eyesight technology, the Subaru Evoltis gets a host of advanced driver assistance systems. The SUV gets safety features like front, side, curtain, and driver knee airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, active torque vectoring, brake assist, vehicle dynamics control, front view monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, electronic parking brake, lane change assist, blind-spot detection and high beam assist.
