After Toyota-Scion Move, It's Time now for some Subaru BR-Z Action
MANILA: It was only a few days back when Toyota Motor Corporation announced its absorbing move directed towards Scion. Indicating a future with no FR-S badged car zooming around the tracks. Instead, we'll now have a 2017 Toyota 86 ( FR-S latest model) that is scheduled to greet the world at the 10-day long New York Auto Show. With all this going on the background, it's more than obvious to expect a move from Subaru as well (Toyota & Subaru works hand in hand on the sports car front).
Those of you who are not in-line with Toyota -Subaru- Scion sports car partnership, we'll like to inform you that they share an understanding in the sports car building front. Wherein they share technologies, innovations and more. Toyota with its 86, Subaru with its BR-Z & Scion with (now no more existing) its FR-S have each as their respective products, all with same heats but known by different names.
So, if there is change or up gradation in Toyota sports cars profile the same is deemed to reflect on Subaru as well. Thus, when we saw the new Toyota 86, somewhere in our mind we started building the image of new generation BR-Z.
The Internet from the past few hours is flooded with non-camouflaged images of the all new BR-Z that appears to be standing in an auto warehouse, accompanied by its other sports siblings .
Now let's analyse each of the spied image in detail and look for all the changes given by Subaru.
Front -
On the front portion, revisions are kept limited to a new pair of headlight now with LED daytime running lights, new air-vents on both ends, and a not so changed grille.
Side -
Side profile now holds fender integrated indicators, 10-spoke alloy wheels, and a smooth roofline. Not much is visible but we are sure of adequate contour enhancing its aerodynamic quotient.
Rear -
Like the front, the rear is bestowed some new inputs like new tail lights, restyled trunk lid and a diffuser integrated bumper.
Engine -
Though Subaru is still numb about the new BR-Z and its related specification but as per the history goes we are expecting to see more or less same upgradations on both Toyota and Subaru front. Thus, we are hoping to see the same 2.0L flat-four mill housed under new Toyota 86. The said mill there produces 205 hp of maximum power with 156 lb-ft of peak torque.
Launch -
Unlike Toyota 86 new version that is all set to make an appearance on 25th of March commencing New York Show, the debut date of Subaru BR-Z is still under cover. But don't be disappointed because if not a BR-Z, the new Impreza will surely greet you at the New York centred auto show.
