Alfa Romeo Stelvio revealed at LA Motor Show 2016
MANILA: It looks like every prominent automaker is looking to enter the premium SUV segment, and after Bentley, and Jaguar it is Alfa Romeo which has entered the game with its Stelvio at the LA Motor Show 2016. The brand has revealed the three variants of its SUV: Stelvio, Stelvio Ti and Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Based on the Giorgio platform, Stelvia is all set to compete against the likes of BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. According to Reid Bigland, the head of Alfa Romeo, Stelvio is a result of unique engineering, which is capable of challenging two-door sports cars on the track without hampering the characteristics that are found in a premium SUV.
One look at the Stelvio, and you will get to know that this car is a blend of capability, high performance and marvellous Italian styling. The wheel arches are wide yet reflect premiumness rather rugged, and the coupe-like roof accentuates the overall design of the SUV. Leather seats, rearview camera with parking sensors, a flat-bottom steering wheel and powered tailgates are some of the other notable features of Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
Considering Stelvio Ti, the particular variant is more luxe up and features 19-inch wheels, wood accents, and an 8.8-inch display. The automaker has also offered Sports and Lusso packages to the customers, which offers a choice of designing the SUV in either a high performance or luxurious way. The top-end variant is the Quadrifoglio which features leather finished dashboard with flat bottom steering wheel, sports seats that are covered in Alcantara leather. The suspension duties are adaptive, which are tuned for sports. Other features are torque vectoring, high-performance brakes, and carbon fibre accents in the cabin.
The company will also offer a performance pack, which will allow to shed some weight of the car and will provide better braking agility due to higher use of carbon fiber bucket seats and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. The Philippines launch is still not declared by the company but, we expect that Alfa Romeo Stelvia might be introduced by late 2017 or early 2018.
