All-new Chevy Trailblazer features Camaro-inspired looks, active aero for fuel efficiency

MANILA: Local Chevrolet distributor The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) has introduced its latest contender in the compact SUV segment, the Chevrolet Trailblazer. 

TCCCI said that the model is now available in Chevrolet dealerships nationwide in two variants: LT (P1,488,888) and Premier (P1,621,888).

Sitting on a global General Motors platform, the Trailblazer is manufactured at the GM Incheon plant in South Korea. The model arrives in the country after North America, South Korea, and China, 

The Trailblazer wears a Camaro-inspired front fascia with LED Intellibeam Headlamps, LED DRLs, and LED fog lamps. Taking center stage is Chevrolet’s signature dual-port grille, while the side profile includes taut character lines and a sleek roofline. Meanwhile, the rear of the Trailblazer features a LED high-mount stop lamp, a hands-free power liftgate, LED taillamps, a rear camera, and sensors.

The eight exterior color options are Summit White, Black Meet Kettle Metallic, Crimson Metallic, Blue Glow Metallic, Vivid Metallic, Mahogany Red Metallic, Abalone White Tri-coat, and Satin Steel Grey Metallic. Rounding off the exterior are 17-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood of the Trailblazer is GM’s next-generation Euro 5 E-Turbo engine. The 1.3-liter inline three-cylinder turbocharged powerplant delivers 155hp and 236Nm of torque. 

To manage the temperature and fuel economy of the 1.3-liter engine, the car is equipped with active grille shutters that close on the highway when engine cooling needs are reduced, thereby reducing aerodynamic drag and maximizing aerodynamic efficiency An engine start/stop system that helps to save fuel and reduces emissions is also available. 

Power is delivered to the Trailblazer's driven wheels via Hydramatic VT40 Continuously Variable Transmission. This new-generation lightweight six-speed front-wheel-drive CVT comes equipped with a multi-drive-mode system to match road conditions.

For safety, among the features the Trailblazer is equipped with is the Mini Spare Detection, which automatically detects if an emergency or spare wheel is in use. This system adjusts the brakeforce, torque, and power applied on the spare wheel. 

Inside, the centerpiece of the cockpit is the eight-inch MyLink infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. For added comfort for all passengers, the Trailblazer is equipped with an automatic HVAC with Air Moisture Sensor and AC Cabin Pollen Filter.
