All-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class brings flagship features in a compact sedan

From the exterior design cues, headlamp and taillamp designs, all the way to the seamless and highly digitalized interior, the new C-Class bears the new design language that was initially unveiled with the S-Class. The new C-Class may reach a wider market by bringing all of these luxurious features to the compact sedan class. With these, the C-Class is deserving of the moniker “Baby S.”
The new C-Class combines sportiness and luxury in a modern form. Reduced lines blend with heavily sculpted surfaces and muscular body proportions with sporty design elements.
Compared to its predecessor, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is much larger, with a wheelbase that is 25mm longer, an overall length that is 65mm longer, a width that is 45mm wider, and 7mm more ground clearance. These expand the interior space and enhance the driving experience. The front bumper of the Avantgarde exterior has recently undergone revision, and it now has a single radiator grille with louvers to emphasize the prominent Mercedes-Benz star. Its daytime running lights and LED High Performance headlamps have been updated to be more modern and stylish. Pronounced powerdomes on the bonnet also give the new C-Class a dynamic and masculine appearance.
It is noticeably longer from the side than its predecessor and has a more streamlined coupe-like look. The new 18-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels are paired with runflat tires.
The new C-Class has two-section tail lights, similar to the E-Class and S-Class. The full-LED technology in these lights gives the car a wider, more imposing appearance.
On the inside, the C-Class is equipped with an 11.9-inch floating central display touchscreen with tons of functions and a slight inclination toward the driver to make it easier to read and use. It also comes with a 10.25-inch free-standing full digital instrument display. The driver can choose from a variety of display styles, including Classic, Sport, and Understated. It also displays driver assistance menus.
The latest NTG7 MBUX multimedia system, which now includes more connectivity features and a “Hey Mercedes” voice command system, is also included with the new C-Class. The multifunction steering wheel's touch control buttons allow the driver to operate the MBUX.
MBUX can also be connected to a smartphone through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, allowing the driver to access important mobile apps such as Messages, Spotify, and Waze.
The new C-Class also provides more space with larger legroom and headroom. Capacitive switches allow the driver and front passenger to electrically adjust the seats. Up to three profiles can be stored in the memory function of the front seats. The profiles can be instantly selected and changed as needed. The new C-Class also offers four-way lumbar support, which enhances ergonomics and seating comfort by allowing the occupant to adjust the seat contour to their lumbar area.
The 64-color ambient lighting in the new C-Class ups the ante in terms of progressive comfort by helping set the appropriate mood. The Thermatic dual-zone automatic climate control system is also included, and it can be easily adjusted using the temperature and ventilation controls located on the central display. It also has an activated charcoal filter to filter dust and reduce harmful chemicals and pollutants.
To reduce risk of injury, the C-Class is equipped with seven airbags. It includes a two-stage deployment airbag for driver and front passenger, side bags, window bags, and a driver knee bag. The C-Class also has Blind Spot Assist to keep the driver aware of their surroundings. When a car enters your blind spot, the system warns the driver and sends a signal to help prevent a collision. assistance features include Active Parking Assist, 12 ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear, Reversing Camera, and Attention Assist.
The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 170hp and 250Nm of torque. It also now has an electric drivetrain with EQ boost mild-hybrid technology.
The 48-volt power supply and integrated starter generator support the combustion engine by supplying up to 15kW more power and up to 200Nm more torque.
The 9G-Tronic automatic transmission delivers power to the rear wheels with barely noticeable gear changes for a comfortable yet exciting ride. The transmission keeps the engine running at low speeds, thus reducing fuel consumption and keeping the engine running quietly.
The new C-Class also comes with a Dynamic Select feature that allows the driver to select between a sporty and a comfortable drive, modifying the car's engine, suspension, and steering to suit their preferences.
