KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the all-new Suzuki Swift?
Under the hood of the Swift is a newly developed Z12E engine. Will the all-new Swift be launched in overseas markets?
Yes, the all-new Swift will also be released in international markets.Suzuki Motor Corporation has officially begun sales of the continuously variable transmission (CVT) models of the all-new Swift. Meanwhile, the five-speed manual models will be available starting January 17.
The fourth-generation Swift features a new design concept, as well as improved convenience and safety features. It now embraces modernity as Suzuki incorporated a new value of “enjoying daily life with cars” in the hatchback’s design and driving performance.
The goal of the design is to instantly make a memorable impression on the road. The car’s exterior features a rounded shape, projecting a sophisticated look and aiming for style that exudes individuality and driving performance. The all-new Swift is available in nine colors, including the new Cool Yellow Metallic and Frontier Blue Pearl Metallic.
To represent the unity between the driver and the vehicle, the interior design connects the instrument panel and door trim. The cockpit layout offers the driver a natural posture for operation, with easy-to-use audio and switches.
Under the hood of the Swift is a newly developed 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z12E engine that delivers optimal driving performance and fuel efficiency.
The hatchback also achieves superior aerodynamic performance thanks to its rear door side spoilers and improved front strake, front bumper, and wheel shape that help reduce air resistance by about 4.6 percent when compared to the predecessor.
Handling and ride comfort are also enhanced by adding structural adhesives and high-tensile steel plates in the body. The addition of baffle materials and the application of damping adhesive to body joints also helped improve the quietness.
The all-new Swift also comes with Dual Sensor Brake Support II, a safety feature that uses a monocular camera and a millimeter-wave radar. Driving is also made easier by the adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and adaptive high beam system. The new Swift is also the first-ever Suzuki to be equipped with a driver monitoring system, which observes the driver’s face and notifies them if signs of drowsiness or inattention are detected.
According to Suzuki, the all-new Swift will also be launched in overseas markets soon.
There is a big chance that the Philippines will get the latest iteration of the Swift since the version that is currently available in the country was launched way back 2018.
The Philippine-spec Swift is offered in only one variant powered by a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a CVT.
It is equipped with basic safety features such as dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system, reverse camera, and parking sensors, so it will be a big upgrade if the fourth-gen Swift arrives here as it comes with a host of advanced safety technologies.
