Another Autonomous Vehicle on Charts-BMW, Intel and Mobileye on Job

MANILA: The Modern era has emerged on such a big scale that we are now talking about the autonomous vehicles; the vehicles which have been roaming on the roads without the driver’s interference. Major automotive giants are participating in this effort to bring highly capable technologies and automate things. BMW has recently been in news where it will be making alleged vehicles in collaboration with Intel; the technology hulk and Mobileye. A few months ago, Ford also announced their Autonomous Entertainment system to be patented, and this makes the  good paced technology serve us the hassle free drives in future. But before that, let’s see what BMW has to offer.

BMW is projecting this concept to its iNext vehicle where all three organizations will put in their efforts. This vehicle will be prepared for all necessary tests and the final production of the fleet will be carried out thereafter. For the execution of this whole planning, the prototype needs to pass through 3 major levels which have been mutually decided by these three companies. These levels include:

• Level 3 - Eyes Off
• Level 4 - Mind Off
• Level 5 - Driver Off or DriverLess

All these three levels are required to make a car completely self-driven where the electronic components and artificial intelligence will be taking place together with loads of future ready technologies. The trio will be working together to make a standardized platform for the execution of above project so that other manufacturers can also be benefitted with “autonomous machines and deep machine learning”.

On the occasion of declaring this technology, the Co-Founder, Chairman, and CTO Professor Amnon Shashua said that he is really glad to announce about the autonomous vehicle they are designing in collaboration with two other conglomerates. For him, this happens to be a milestone with which they are entering into a new way of mobility. They wish to see the cars fitted with totally autonomous vehicles really soon in the future.

As the autonomous technology is gripping its foundation good, there have been few cases reported in the auto industry where the failure of autonomous technology was involved. The electric car manufacturer Tesla Motors was also found explaining why its model S crashed while on Autopilot mode. Still, the future is seeing such things to be there within. Few countries like Dubai in the Middle East have plans to go completely autonomous in auto sector by 2025. So, it’s time to wait and watch.
