Aston Martin OHMSS DBS Superleggera is another car dedicated to Bond
MANILA: The duo of Aston Martin and James Bond has been a love story that dates back to decades now. However, the test of time has not put a dent on the relationship at all and the British automobile manufacturer has dedicated a lot of its time in building special edition devoted to the legacy of Bond. We recently covered a story on Aston Martin building a recreation of the Goldfinger DB5 in limited numbers.
While the Goldfinger DB5 carried a price tag of around Php 193 million, it still misses out on the ejector seat. More importantly, not only the Goldfinger DB5 is a ridiculously expensive car limited to 25 production units, but it is also street illegal. Those who couldn’t get their hands on one of the Goldfinger DB5s, Aston Martin has now come up with an “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service DBS Superleggera”. That is some name, isn’t it?
We can also call it OHMSS DBS Superleggera, though. This Aston Martin is inspired by the 1969 DBS that was used in the Bond’s film of the same name. Moreover, it will also celebrate the movie’s 50th anniversary. With ample of aesthetic changes, the motor inside the hood on this James Bond special edition still continues to be a twin-turbo V12 that is capable of making 725 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 900 Nm of torque.
Talking of the visual changes, the car comes dipped in the same shade as of the original car in the movie, i.e., Olive Green. Other changes include the diamond-cut wheels and a carbon fibre splitter called aero blade. Hop inside the OHMSS DBS Superleggera and you are greeted with a cabin that is covered with black leather with red contrast stitching Both 007 logos and “OHMSS Edition” text can be seen bolstering the seats. While the glovebox on the OHMSS DBS Superleggera has been done in red, it doesn’t have a rifle inside of it. With four champagne flutes and space for two bottles, there’s the Bond’s unique drinks case.
Wrapping up, we’d say grabbing one of the 50 production units of the Aston Martin OHMSS DBS Superleggera has become certainly easier this time around. Reason being the higher number of cars available and that too at a much more affordable price of $ 397,000, which translates to around Php 20 million only. Certainly, affordable because the Bond-inspired Aston Martin Goldfinger DB5 carried a price tag of around Php 193 million, right?
