Aside from the EV, other best-sellers in 2023 included the Q5 with around 332,000 units sold, the A6 with around 267,000 units sold, and the A4 with around 237,000 units sold.
Meanwhile, Audi Sport sold around 48,000 high-performance cars worldwide, five percent higher compared to 2022.
Deliveries of Audi cars increased in all regions in 2023.
“We saw strong growth, particularly in our core markets of Europe, the United States, and China, while continuing to pick up speed in electrification. We are putting our strategy on the roads and enabling more and more customers to experience it for themselves,” Audi Board of Management for Sales and Marketing Member Hildegard Wortmann stated.
In Europe, around 748,000 units were sold in Europe in spite of the difficult market conditions. This is 20-percent higher versus 2022. The largest gain was observed in EV, with deliveries increasing by 30 percent.
Meanwhile, in its home country in Germany, Audi delivered more than 252,000 vehicles, 17-percent higher compared to 2022. EV sales rose by 13 percent to around 32,000 units.
The United States also saw a promising growth in Audi sales in 2023. Around 229,000 units were delivered, 22-percent higher versus the previous year. 25,000 EV units were sold, up by 55 percent compared to 2022 sales.
Over 729,000 Audi vehicles were delivered in China and Hong Kong in 2023, a rise of more than 13 percent compared to 2022.
In all other global markets, Audi sold around 190,000 vehicles, a 19-percent increase versus the previous year. Among these markets, Argentina, India, Mexico, and Australia showed significant growth.
“Audi is a strong brand with a clear focus on an electric future. The high demand for our models serves as a robust starting point for the new year. At the same time, we recognize that 2024 will be a challenging year due to increased competition and global economic uncertainties. This makes it all the more important to follow a clear plan that addresses these challenges and focuses on the profitability of our vehicles,” Audi Chief Executive Officer Gernot Dollner stated.
“In 2024 and 2025, we will also strengthen and rejuvenate our portfolio with numerous new models. The focus will be on our groundbreaking electric cars. We are also giving the brand a robust positioning for the coming years with an entirely new generation of combustion engine models and plug-in hybrids,” he added.
One of the models that Audi is slated to launch is the Q6 e-tron, which will be unveiled by the end of the first quarter. The new model will introduce the new Premium Platform Electric, which was developed by Audi especially for EV models.
