Audi S4 TDI and S4 Avant TDI are here
MANILA: Audi certainly doesn’t believe that gone are the days of diesel motors. The German automobile manufacturer has just unveiled the 2020 S4 TDI and S4 Avant TDI, both of which house a V6 turbodiesel even in 2019 when more and more automakers are doing away with diesel-fed mills.
Just like many vehicles in the Volkswagen group, the S4 TDI and Avant S4 TDI house a 3.0-litre V6 TDI motor, which, courtesy of some internal updates, now makes 347 PS of maximum power along with a peak torque of 700 Nm. When compared to the standard S4 that is gasoline-fed, the S4 TDI makes 7 PS less, and a whopping 200 Nm more.
Thanks to all this power, the Audi S4 TDI can do a 0-100 kmph run in no more than 4.8-seconds before topping out at 250 kmph, which is the electronically limited top speed of the Audi S4 TDI. Combining the fuel mileage of 16.1 kmpl with a fuel tank capacity of 58-litre, you can travel as far as 933-km with a tank full of diesel and some sane driving.
Differentiating the diesel S4 from the gas-fed model is the fog light housing, which is of U-shape on the former. The power is sent to wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and both Quattro all-wheel drive, and sports differential are also present on the S4.
In case you’re wondering this is a major diesel vehicle by Audi in recent times, we would like burst the bubble because Audi recently brought out the S6 and S7 TDI, both which use the same mill and get the same amount of power and torque as well.
While you’d have certainly liked the Audi S4 TDI sedan, the German automaker has also unveiled the 2020 Audi S4 Avant TDI, a station wagon. The new Audi models popping up with diesel-fed motors are clearly an indication that the engineers in Germany in no way agree to the trend that diesel is the fuel of the past.
What further strengthens this fact is Audi was the first automaker to compete at Le Mans with a diesel-powered vehicle. What’s more, Audi even managed to win the Le Mans with its diesel-fed mill. Hence, in Audi’s terms, diesel is here to stay. Audi recently brought the Q8 in the Philippines, why not check it out?
