Auto China 2024: Lamborghini Urus SE makes world debut

MANILA: Lamborghini has presented the Urus SE on the world stage during the recently-held Auto China 2024.

Per the Italian carmaker, the Lamborghini Urus SE is the marque’s first plug-in luxury super sport utility vehicle (SUV), which makes its appearance a highly-anticipated affair.

“It is a pleasure to present our latest achievements at this important event in the automotive industry. Twelve years ago, also here in Beijing, I was proud to present the Urus concept car to the world, which created a whole new segment of a super sports car in the body of an SUV,” Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann said.

“The Urus has become one of the most successful Lamborghini models since its launch, becoming our third pillar within the line-up and proving our far-sighted vision. Now we witness the evolution of the super SUV. As the most powerful SUV on the market, the new Urus SE is the next chapter of our success story, which also marks another significant step in our electrification plan ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’,” he added.

Its plug-in hybrid electric powertrain with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine. The setup makes as much as 789 horsepower with 950 Newton-meters of torque.

According to Lamborghini, the Urus SE can travel up to 60 kilometers in pure EV (electric vehicle) mode.

The Lamborghini Urus SE also packs a centrally-located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system, which complements its transfer case and the new electronic limited-slip differential. As a result, it gives the vehicle “on-demand” oversteering.

Its power and performance are reflected through its new design features such as the headlight clusters with matrix LED technology, front bumper, and grille. The hood of the Lamborghini Urus SE also adopts a floating design featured in the Revuelto. Further, it borrows inspiration for its compartment hatch from the Gallardo, which boasts “Y” lights and a new rear diffuser.

The cabin of the Lamborghini Urus SE gets a 12.3-inch infotainment system with the new Human Machine Interface, allowing enhanced interaction between the driver and the digital system.
