AVID recorded 14% rise in vehicle sales in 2021
MANILA: A total of 58,916 vehicles were sold in 2021, according to a consolidated report of the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID). This represents 14% growth compared to 2020 figures.

Ford led the LCV segment with 18,324 units sold, Suzuki is second with 11,314 units, and Geely third with 6,104 units.
The 2021 figures increased by 23% YTD from the 34,896 units in 2020.
Meanwhile in the commercial vehicles (CV) class, Hyundai Trucks and Buses led with a 206% growth with 936 units sold in 2021.
In 2020, Hyundai sold 305 units. The CV class grew by 212% YTD, the AVID release added.
Sales of passenger cars (PC) remained "the most affected by quarantine measures" with a nine-percent decline in sales YTD, AVID noted.
In 2021, 15,092 passenger cars were sold, in contrast to the 16,650 units sold in 2020.
AVID noted a 28% drop in PC sales in December 2021 compared to the same month in 2020. Despite this, the PC segment grew by three percent from November to December 2021.
Suzuki led the month-on-month tally with 8,079 units sold followed by Hyundai with 4,639 units.
“You cannot downplay the importance of mobility in the reopening of the economy, gradual though it may be,” AVID President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo expressed.
