AVID reports 40% spike in YTD vehicle sales
MANILA: The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID) achieved a 40% increase in year-to-date (YTD) sales with 20,353 units sold in April 2021 versus the 14,572 units sold in the same month last year.
In the passenger cars (PC) segment, AVID recorded a 16% increase in YTD sales, from 4,574 units sold through the first four months of 2020 versus 5,328 units in the same period this year. Month-on-month, sales decreased by 21% from 1,372 units sold in March to 1,087 units in April. Suzuki was the top-selling passenger car brand with a total of 2,658 units sold, followed by Hyundai with 1,798 units sold.
The light commercial vehicles (LCV) segment showed a 44% increase in YTD sales with 14,314 units versus 9,606 units sold in April 2020. Month-on-month sales dipped by 15% from the 3,676 units sold in March to 3,116 units in April. Ford emerged as the best-seller in the LCV segment with 6,023 units sold. Suzuki took the second spot, moving a total of 3,732 units. It was followed by Hyundai, which sold a total of 2,069 units.
Hyundai dominated the commercial vehicles (CV) segment with a hefty 673% increase in sales from 92 units sold last year to 711 units this year. Month-on-month, the brand recorded a 102% increase or 293 units sold versus the 145 units sold in March.
