AVID sales shoot up by 198% in June
MANILA: The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID) resumed its journey toward what it called a “better normal” in June 2020, with sales of 3,697 units, or a spike of 198% from the 1,239 units sold during the past month.
Compared to H1 2019 though, AVID sales dipped by 54.8%, from the 43,082 units to this year's 19,455 units during the same period. This is attributed to to the closure of dealerships for more than two months during the first half of 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Given this decline across major segments, the automobile sector is expected to go through dramatic enhancements with more relaxed measures in the coming months, along with the reopening of more businesses.
Though June has exhibited essential sales and recovery, pent-up demand has been emphasized during the community quarantine.
In a statement, AVID pointed out that numerous factors may continuously cause the decline of sales of the industry in the coming months, even as AVID President Ma. Fe Perez Agudo stated that their members and their collaborative dealerships have gone a long way to COVID-proofing facilities.
Agudo also added that they also handle the strengthening of online e-commerce resources and the delivery of promotional deals and offers to attract and regain customers as well as promote buying.
Strategies have also been employed to help everyone adjust in terms of any unexpected circumstances such as the possibility of a second wave, weaker demand, and lower remittances.
The company, comprising of 21 member companies that represent 26 global brands, established COVID-ready organizations, systems, and procedures amid the lockdown. This enabled organizations to resume operations quickly during the second half of May. This is to cater to customers during the immediate need of business enterprises, maintenance, and customers searching for private mobility.
AVID is working closely with the government, along with other stakeholders to aid in curbing the spread of the pandemic while progressively reviving the automobile sector in a sustainable and safe approach.
