BMW 3 Series sedan makes its way to the ASEAN market
MANILA: It has not been too long since the global unveiling of the all-new BMW 3 Series sedan. And boy, BMW has been quick in bringing the newest sedan to the South-East Asian countries. The German automobile manufacturer has put on display its newest baby at the ongoing 2019 Singapore Motorshow.
The 3 Series sedan at the Singapore Motorshow doesn’t seem to be the ASEAN-spec variant as it has the steering wheel fitted on the left. While the final model will certainly have the fitments according to Singapore norms, it would have been great if BMW had put on display the real sedan intended for the specific market.
The 330i on display houses a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor which can pump out a maximum power of 258 PS and 400 Nm of peak torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission takes care of the power delivery. In the Philippines, however, the BMW 3 Series is expected come in the form of 320d which is powered by a diesel motor which produces 190 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 400 Nm.
The sedan that has been showcased is also wearing the M Sport package. The front fascia of the 3 Series includes larger air intakes, bumper with a deeper front apron, and dubbed as “Shadowline” gloss black trimmings. This new 3 Series sedan rides on 19-inch M Sport alloys. There is also a rear bumper kit and stylish side skirts. Talking about the overall visual appeal of the updated 3 Series, the sedan now looks longer and wider than before.
Move inside the sedan and you will feel the effect of M Sport pack all-around. Complementing the BMW’s “Saddle Brown” trims are the M Sport aluminium accents. The steering wheel is also a thick-rimmed one thanks to the M Sport package. Features like the widest iDrive infotainment screen possible, adaptive suspension, Connected Drive concierge services, and a fully digital instrument cluster dubbed Live Cockpit are also present on the displayed model.
While the Philippine-spec 3 Series will certainly not be as feature-laden as the Singapore-spec one, we still expect the sedan to offer a lot more than the currently on-sale model.
