BMW 2 Series Coupe

The entire cabin layout of the BMW 2-Series Coupe is exactly similar to that of the facelifted 3-Series, which makes the interior of this two-door coupe fall in line with other range-starting BMW offerings. The cabin is high on quality levels and elegance, with it being offered with two upholstery options – Leather Vernasca black with contrast blue stitching and Leather Vernasca Cognac with décor stitching. There are two trim options for the dashboard – high-gloss black and aluminium tetragon.

The highlight of the cabin of the BMW 2-Series Coupe is the super-wide rectangular full-TFT cockpit behind the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with a silver theme for the spokes. This cockpit has a curved design and accommodates a new-generation BMW virtual cockpit instrument console with new-age graphics and a touchscreen infotainment system with the latest-generation iDrive tech.

The trapezoidal AC vents in the centre console, which are slightly tilted towards the driver, have silver accents around them, which flow towards the AC vents on the dashboard corners in a wraparound fashion. The lower center console, which has buttons for the multi-zone automatic climate control, flows towards the center tunnel, which has a transmission lever, wireless charging pad, iDrive controller, electronic parking brake, and engine push start-stop button on it.

In this second-generation version of the BMW 2-Series Coupe, which was introduced in 2021, BMW made some significant tweaks to the exterior design of the two-door coupe. The two-door 2-Series Coupe, which was already a stylish offering for its price and size, became even more eye-catching with the changes to the design.

At the front, the new BMW 2-Series Coupe gets a refreshed single-frame double-kidney grille which has satin chrome surrounds and expressively styled flaps which look like traditional vertical slats, and open and close to meet the demand of air for the intake. The BMW 2-Series Coupe also gets large triangular air flaps on the corners of the front bumper, which along with the surrounds for the grille, get satin bronze surrounds in the M2450i xDrive variant. The headlamps on offer feature bi-LED technology for the main projectors, along with stretched U-shaped daytime running LEDs below them.

The side profile of the BMW 2-Series Coupe also received subtle tweaks in this second-generation version, which continues the two-door appearance with frameless doors while getting a smooth crease from front to end. BMW is offering three different types of 19-inch M light alloy wheels across both variants of the 2-Series Coupe. The rear profile of the BMW 2-Series Coupe received the most significant visual change with a redesigned boot lid, which along with the all-new tail lamps with LED inserts on far edges, makes the coupe look wide and muscular from the rear. The gloss black rear diffuser of the BMW 2-Series Coupe gets trapezoidal chrome-surrounded exhaust ports, with one on either side.

The BMW 2-Series Coupe comes with Macpherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup with the rear, with M240i xDrive getting all-wheel drive and M Performance suspension with two additional rear dampers and four support bearings. This adaptive suspension setup on offer in the BMW 2-Series Coupe gets further assistance from the dynamic electronic suspension adjustments with modes like Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus for the additional thrill of driving.

Both the variants of the BMW 2-Series Coupe are well-distinguished from each other with different powertrains offered in them. The 218i M Sport has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which claims 185 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque. Shared with the 3-Series sedan and 4-Series Coupe, this engine helps the BMW 2-Series Coupe achieve a top speed of 236 mph, a 0-100 kmph sprint timing of 7.5 seconds, and a fuel economy of 15.87 km.

The M240i xDrive variant gets a larger, more powerful 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine, which claims 390 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. This engine propels the BMW 2-Series Coupe to reach a top speed of 250 kmph, a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 4.3 seconds and a fuel economy of 12.5 kmpl. An 8-speed automatic transmission is common to both powertrains.

The long safety equipment list on offer in both the variants of the BMW 2-Series Coupe includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, speed assistance, lane assist system, ABS with EBD, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability program, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree parking camera and hill hold assist.

The compact dimensions, along with the two-door look and sloping roofline, make the BMW 2-Series Coupe an absolute stunner. On the other hand, the car is a driver’s delight with well-tuned suspension and engine options on offer.
