BMW & Alcantara join hands for the i8 Roadster LimeLight Edition
MANILA: BMW is managing to make it to the headlines in some way or the other, isn't it? Not only is the German automaker all-set to roll out its EVs like the i4, iX3, i1, and the iNext but also planning to unleash the luxury fastback in the form of the i6 in 2024. While that was BMW's EV story, the auto giant is also busy in collaborating with other brands in the meantime to bring out some unique and mouth-watering offerings.
It is Alcantara, the Italian fabric producer with whom BMW has partnered on this occasion. And, the result in the form of the BMW i8 Roadster LimeLight Edition is rather sensuous and highly alluring. Wearing a unique and attention-grabbing lime green paint, this uniquity sports numerous black trim pieces, blacked-out alloys, and brake callipers that are dipped in yellow.
Since the BMW i8 Roadster LimeLight Edition is a result of BMW and Alcantara joining hands, the special edition model gets high-end leather for all of the seats, door panels, steering wheel, dashboard, and other elements on the inside. To provide the interior of the car of a dual-tone look just like the exterior, the stitching has been done in contrasting lime color.
"Design, craftsmanship and the ability to customize Alcantara material all contribute to making the new BMW i8 Roadster LimeLight Edition a unique model. With the LimeLight Edition i8 Roadster, Alcantara renews its collaboration with BMW Italy, demonstrating its ability to interpret every design requirement with an extreme level of customization, where exclusivity and creativity are essential to the project itself", said BMW.
If you're not much familiar with Alcantara, the brand is a TÜV SÜD certified carbon-neutral company. Moreover, the brand has grabbed the title of a carbon-neutral company for 10 years straight starting from 2009. So, the interior and exterior of the BMW i8 Roadster LimeLight Edition looks nothing but dope, but what about the stuff under all the glamour?
The BMW i8 Roadster LimeLight Edition continues to get its juices from a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol-fed engine that works in conjunction with an electric motor combo. It is then an 11.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers the electric part of the powertrain. The specs sheet reads 369 hp of maximum power. Thanks to all the horses, the i8 Roadster can do a 0 to 100 kmph run is just 4.6 seconds before topping out at 250 kmph.
