BMW, Concept 4, and the double-kidney grille
MANILA: With its newer models, BMW has taken on hands the task of increasing the size of its trademark double-kidney grille. All of its new models including the X7, 3 Series, and the 7 Series now feature a larger than ever before double-kidney grille. Moreover, the revisited large size grilles have made the updated BMW cars a "love it or hate it" affair. Following the productions models, coming straight from Munich is the Concept 4, a stylish German two-door, albeit with a rather insanely large double-kidney grille.
The vertically elongated grille makes for almost the full-face of the sedan. There are, however, chunky and stylish blacked-out air-vents on the corners. Lastly, a pair of slim all-LED headlamps complete the front fascia of the BMW Concept 4. BMW says that the sedan takes its clues from the E9 3.0 CSL, an icon from the 1960s, and the 328 roadster. The side profile incorporates huge alloys and chrome window surrounds. A pair of L-shaped taillights along with a lip spoiler form the rear end of the BMW Concept 4.
Going by the reports and resources, the BMW Concept 4 should lay the foundation for the design language of the next-generation 4 Series and the 8 Series Coupe.
While we would love for the automaker to carry forward the other design elements to its next-gen models, but the crazy double-kidney grille? Naah.
