BMW expands fully electric i4 range with i4 eDrive35

MANILA: BMW has launched the latest addition to its fully electric i4 range, the new BMW i4 eDrive35.

The BMW i4 eDrive35 is powered by the Gen5 eDrive powertrain technology, which is also used in the BMW iX and other i4 models. It comes with a single electrically excited synchronous motor and high-voltage batteries with an energy content of 70.2kWh gross and 66kWh net. The powertrain produces 281hp and 295lb-ft of torque, making the i4 eDrive35 capable of accelerating from zero to 60mph in just 5.8 seconds.

The BMW i4 eDrive35 comes standard with 18-inch aero wheels. It has an EPA range of around 260 miles. The batteries can be charged at up to 180kW when using DC fast charging. Based on early testing, the HV battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 32 minutes.

The BMW i4 eDrive35 is equipped with the BMW Curved Display powered by BMW Operating System 8. It combines a 12.3-inch information display with a 14.9-inch control display behind a seamless glass surface. The full range of ConnectedDrive digital services and over-the-air updates are also available in the BMWi4 eDrive35.

Production is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2022 at BMW Group Plant Munich in Germany. US deliveries will start in the first quarter of 2023, with a starting price of US$51,400.
