BMW i8 Spyder Mirrorless Concept Gets over the Ground: 2016 CES
MANILA: BMW is moving into development of futuristic vehicles. In recent years, BMW has displayed various featured concept vehicles which offer great gestures and connectivity inside. This year, BMW has launched the new i8 spyder concept car, which is installed with rear-view camera. This is the first ever mirrorless BMW i8 showcased at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at Las Vegas. Initially, BMW has replaced the mirrors used in the vehicle with three cameras, which also gives a better view of the surrounding while driving or parking. The vehicle also gets a blind spot that alerts the driver with a yellow warning in case of any mis-happening.
The new i8 spyder is also based on the previous model launched in late 2002 but the new i8 concept model is likely to get some significant upgrades and tweaks on the interior counterpart. It gets gesture controls, virtual touch sensitive dashboard, HD display, and voice control. It is said that the new i8 gets a wing-like cameras instead of the mounted cameras used in previous designs. It assures better aerodynamic performance while driving.
The new i8 offers a 21-inch panoramic display that is viewable to the passengers in the rear. The doors have been minimized in order to reveal the instrument panels located inside the car. It also gets a latest AirTouch feature that facilitates the user to turn on the virtual touchscreen. In order to provide amazing drive experience, the automaker has assembled three driving modes into the new i8, namely, Pure drive, Assist (semi-autonomous) and Auto mode (Full-autonomous).
Looking to the amazing features, we are hoping to see a production model of the new i8 spyder soon. Moreover, the BMW i8 Spyder concept which launched three years ago went for the production line and shall be seen in convertible design.
