BMW reveals 2021 3 Series eDrive sedans
MANILA: On March 26, BMW confirmed its newest 3 Series model line that utilizes the latest eDrive technology. These are the plug-in-hybrid 330e XDrive and 330e sedans.
The new models feature infotainment and safety systems and advanced driver-assist to provide a thrilling driving experience while reducing carbon emissions and enabling fully electric driving.
During the past 40 years, no single vehicle has represented the German carmaker's "ultimate driving machine" idea better than the BMW 3 Series sedan. The 3 Series has sold more than 15 million units worldwide. The BMW 330e xDrive and 330e Sedans build not just on the foundation of the BMW 3 Series range, but also the passion and intensity of the BMW brand.
All the state-of-the-art features of a BMW were elevated to a higher level through "unperturbed testing and innovation." These features include revolutionary equipment, excellent performance, efficient handling, and modern design.
The latest BMW 330e xDrive and 330e sedans use a smartly operated powertrain. This consists of an internal combustion gasoline engine, a high-voltage battery pack, and an electric motor to improve driving experience.
Another feature in these new BMW models is XtraBoost, which increases power and efficiency when the throttle is lowered to a kick-down position. XtraBoost is available in Sport mode since it provides an instant 40hp increase in power, which lasts for 10 seconds.
The new BMW 330e xDrive and 330e Sedans can run on electric power alone at speeds that reach 109kph in Hybrid driving mode. This entails an increase of 31kph from its predecessor. The Electric mode, which is both fuel and emissions-free, enables driving up to a speed of 140kph from the previous 121kph.
Another feature is the standard Active Protection for Pedestrians, which involves an exterior speaker system. This produces a distinctive sound generated especially for electrically powered BMWs while running at speeds up to 32kph in electric-only mode.
The new BMW sedans are built with standard eight-speed Sport Steptronic transmission. The current version of this rapid-shifting sport automatic transmission includes a new, streamlined hydraulic control system for shorter gearing and enhanced acceleration and response.
The Sport Steptronic transmission, which works with the default navigation system, uses information from this system and the radar sensor of the alternative Active Cruise Control system. The Active Cruise Control system allows the proper transfer to prevent excessive gear modifications when driving through some corners.
The intelligent xDrive feature of the BMW 330e xDrive also comes with an variable power transfer. This guarantees optimum traction and lateral stability in different weather and road conditions. It also enables sportier handling. Through this approach, the inclination of the vehicle to understeer or oversteer can be significantly reduced.
The chassis and body structure of the new BMW sedans were produced with an emphasis on high braking performance, high-precision steering, versatile handling features, and improved driving dynamics.
Moreover, the BMW 3 Series sedan also features a new shock absorber technology. The mechanically integrated interplay of differential locking, brake system, suspension, tires, and steering makes sport driving an exciting experience without any hassle.
The BMW 330e xDrive and 330e sedans also take on a groundbreaking role in terms of assistance systems. These are created to relieve the workload of the driver in tedious driving environments like traffic jams. It also offers aid in maneuvering through busy streets and narrow corners.
The new BMW 3 Series Sedans provide a broader range of regular and potentially available solutions that improve essential aspects of safety and comfort.
Data and camera images are also obtained through the ultrasonic and radar sensors used for tracking the surrounding area. These features use corrective steering and braking to warn drivers for hazards or reduce the likelihood of an accident.
The optional Active Cruise Control, which also includes the Stop and Go braking function, promotes safety and convenience during a long journey through automatic slowing down or speeding up of the car. The stop-and-go braking function also helps maintain the ideal speed of the driver.
Another notable feature of the new BMW 3 series is the Extended Traffic Jam Assistant, which aims to aid drivers to stop and proceed during the most challenging driving scenario. The vehicle also features the regular Park Distance Control (PDC) with sensors located at the rear and front. It delivers acoustic and visual signals to avoid collisions with barriers situated on the back or side of the vehicle.
Finally, the BMW Digital Key uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to enable the unlocking and locking of the new BMW sedans through a compatible mobile phone. It eliminates the need for a traditional car key since the mobile phone can open the car when held to the door handle.
BMW also has an existing partnership with Amazon to provide its customers with added functionalities such as scheduling an installation, checking prices, and researching hardware through the convenient Amazon digital platform.
