BMW reveals its First-ever 370hp, M2 Coupe
MANILA: BMW has finally revealed its much-awaited M2 Coupe which is the successor to the 1-series M Coupe. It comes with an aggressive front profile along with muscular fenders. The car looks bold and spectacular with the combination of 19-inch aluminum forged wheels, an aggressive rear bumper including integrated diffuser and standard dual twin-tip exhausts.
The interior is decent and gives luxury appeal as it's much more driver-oriented. It gets some hot upgrades like a 300kph speedometer, an 8,000rpm tachometer, and gearshift and leather steering wheel. The seats come with adjustable side bolsters trimmed in Black Dakota leather and M door sill plates.
The all new M2 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder in-line M TwinPower engine that features some amazing speed & performance boosters like a twin-scroll turbocharger, high-precision injection, 2-Vanos variable camshaft timing, and variable-valve control systems. The powerful engine is able to churn out a maximum power of 370hp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 465Nm at 1,400-5,560 rpm. The engine can also be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed M double-clutch transmission in order to make gearshift hassle-free. An active M differential optimizes the overall power transfer to the rear wheels.
Moreover, the Top speed is electronically limited to 250kph but can be increased by 20kph using an optional M Driver's Package. The car accelerates from 0-100kph in just 4.3 seconds with the M double-clutch transmission, and takes about 4.5 seconds when paired with the manual transmission.
BMW has also come up with the enhance braking system, the M2 features large 380mm vented disc brakes with four-piston fixed calipers fitted up-front, and the rear gets 370mm vented disc brakes assembled with two-piston calipers. The M2 features a lightweight M Sport suspension just like its siblings M3 & M4. Aside from offering amazing handling abilities, it carries suspension components such as control arms and wheel carriers in order to shave off unwanted weight.
However, the recently introduced M4 GTS might be the top most M model right now, but M2 can be considered as a best all-round perfect M car. Hoping to see it soon around our shores.
