BMW to supply hybrid powertrain components to Karma Automotive
MANILA: BMW has signed an agreement with Karma Automotive to supply its latest powertrain components, including high voltage battery charging systems along with a wide range of hybrid and EV systems.BMW has already demonstrated its competence in developing and producing such components with vehicles like the i3 and i8, and Active Hybrid trims of the 3 Series, 5 Series, and 7 Series sedans.
According to Karma Automotive, the upcoming plug-in hybrid vehicle will be integrated with the first BMW components vehicle which will be launched next year. Karma revealed that its next-generation model lineup will be equipped with BMW’s powertrain technology in more numbers.
Karma CEO Tom Corcoran said in a statement that the brand will be dedicated in producing latest hybrid cars based on the EV technology and launch more beautiful cars in the coming years.
Corcoran said that “The Wanxiang Group is giving Karma Automotive the opportunity to bring a stunning car back to the market, and the partnership with BMW and their outstanding track record is a great fit for the future. We will continue to develop beautiful cars with the latest cutting edge hybrid and EV technology."
