BMW will showcase the i3 Urban Suite to #ChangeYourPerception at CES 2020
MANILA: If there is one common theme running for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020, it is highlighting what carmakers see as the future of vehicles and mobility. And BMW is no exception to this trend.
The BMW Group will showcase, among others, its “visionary approaches to creating the mobility experience of the future” as part of the company’s #ChangeYourPerception campaign. According to the automaker’s press release, BMW believes in its “ability to not only understand the requirements of future mobility but also find answers to them.” Enter the BMW i3 Urban Suite.
For several years now, BMW i3 has been the company’s flagship vehicle not just for EV but also for intelligent connectivity which makes it the world’s best-selling electric car in the premium compact segment.
And now it’s getting an upgrade which we think is a response to most urban conditions around the world—congested roads and horrendous traffic. The compact premium sedan will be fitted with BMW’s Urban Suite which will make passengers forget that they are in a car but rather, relaxing in a boutique hotel.
Sketches for the i3 Urban Suite shows one of the many ways on how the car interior can be tailored to specific needs of its passenger. The front passenger seat was removed and replaced by a footrest and directly behind it is a lounge chair. The back of the driver seat is fitted with a wooden desk that goes to the other side of the lounge chair for continuity of design.
Basing from the sketches, there is ample room and leg space to make you forget that you are stuck in a horrendous EDSA holiday traffic. While the connectivity features of the sedan will allow you to get some work done.
Accordingly, only the driver seat and the entire dashboard remained unchanged on the i3 Urban Suite. What is more, the materials used for the seat upholstery, dashboard, and inside trims are made from recycled materials like plastics, reclaimed wood, and textiles.
To experience BMW i3 Urban Suite for yourself, the company is preparing a fleet of standard BMW i3 cars that has a converted Urban Suites in Munich that will be brought to Las Vegas ahead of the CES. Anyone who wants to be chauffeured around the city can avail of one of the BMW i3 Urban Suite cars via a mobile app.
The experience will allow a passenger to #ChangeYourPerception on how innovation and sustainable mobility is in the future. It will also demonstrate that vehicle size does not really matter when it comes to luxury travel in the future.
CES 2020 is a 3-day event that kicks off on January 7, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
