Bugatti Divo units to roll out this year

MANILA: After a two-year production, Bugatti Divo units will be ready for delivery to customers this year. The Divo is considered one of the most exclusive and spectacular hyper sports cars due to its striking character, entirely different handling performance, and unique design.

According to the president of Bugatti, Stephan Winkelmann, through the Divo, Bugatti is bringing back a long-forgotten tradition of coachbuilding. The limited and high-performance hyper sports car has a distinctive design. It also features improved agility, lateral acceleration, and steering features. Thus, it is an ultimate must-have for the hyper sports car collection of any Bugatti aficionado.

Through the new design and radically different handling efficiency of the Divo, Bugatti has managed to create a unique masterpiece of automotive craft that revives the long-standing coachbuilding legacy.

In terms of this tradition, the name “coach” initially means a car or carriage. About 100 years ago, the French luxury brand already provided Bugatti customers excellent choices with challenging aesthetic requirements. Thus, the tradition of coachbuilding, which is the art of transforming unique vehicles into an even more exclusive type, began. This provided customers new opportunities to purchase a car without body panels and have one tailored by another builder. Then, they will create one-off vehicles for their customers.

The name of the Bugatti model came from Albert Divo, a French racing driver and pilot, who also worked for the auto company. During the development of the Divo, the initial goal of the small team of experts was to produce something different from the Chiron 2 model. The purpose of Bugatti was also to design a more exclusive model that appears to be sporty and swift, without compromising supremacy and comfort. Within several months, the first design model was made and shown to Chiron owners in Molsheim, France.

The agility of the Bugatti Divo was achieved through the utilization of more direct chassis setup, more downward force, and less weight. Well-recognized companies like Weinberger, Weymann, and Gangloff tailored the unique layout of the Bugatti chassis. This involves a shift in wheel camber on the rear and front axles, harder springs, and a more forward-oriented balance. Thus, the top speed of the Divo is limited to 380kph. These adjustments enhance agility, which is the response of the vehicle to the input of the steering angle. Due to the rigorous lightweight construction, the Divo has lost a minimum of 35 kilograms in overall weight, compared to the Chiron.

Bugatti Divo

Bugatti gave special attention to the development of the Divo's aerodynamic capabilities. The bonnet now has air inlets which decrease the vehicle's frontal area and enhance airflow. An engineered air curtain offers improved air ducting in the rear and front areas of the vehicle. Furthermore, the newly developed front spoiler helps boost downforce, funneling more air to the front air vents. The brakes are cooled through four separate air sources on each side of the car.

Professionals have also configured the roof of the Bugatti Divo. A high air mass flow into the engine compartment is attained in combination with the changed rear end. In this way, the temperature control gains benefits from the optimized roof of the Divo. Furthermore, these measures deter the air above the vehicle from spinning and traction from forming at the rear wing. The rear diffuser supports the wing, which is more effectively created, and it houses four exhaust pipes.

For the interior of the Bugatti Divo, new sports seats possessing higher side reinforcements secure the occupants even if cornering is done at very high speeds. The steering wheel is partly covered in Alcantara leather and has expanded steering wheel-mounted shift paddles on two edges. It allows the drivers to shift gears manually and experience enhanced driving pleasure.
