MANILA: As shared by BYD Cars Philippines, it now holds a 70.5 percent market share for the new energy vehicle (NEV) market in the country for the first eight months of 2024.

BYD Cars Philippines’ latest model is the Sealion 6 DM-i.The brand highlighted the aforementioned achievement during its recent formal opening of its first-ever Experience Hub in Glorietta 1, Ayala Center, Makati City.
Additionally, the ACMobility car brand shared that its Atto 3 electric vehicle (EV) is now the top-selling NEV in the country within the same period, with a market share of 35.1 percent. The aforementioned EV unit has also risen to hold a 44.1 percent share in the local battery electric vehicle (BEV) market, making it the current number one BEV model in the Philippines for January-August 2024.
While it is the brand’s newest model, the Sealion 6 Dual Mode-intelligent (DM-i) plug-in hybrid crossover has also skyrocketed in popularity. Per the Ayala-owned marque, it is the country’s second best-selling NEV from the same period, holding a year-to-date NEV market share of 18.3 percent.
Interestingly, the top four NEV vehicles from January-August 2024 are all BYD models. Standing in the third spot is the Dolphin, followed by the Tang, with market shares standing at 9.2 percent and 6.6 percent, respectively.
As BYD Cars Philippines highlighted the said achievements, it isn’t resting on its laurels just yet. Instead, it is currently working to expand its dealership network to a total of 24 outlets by the end of 2024. The brand also disclosed its intention to open eight more dealerships by the beginning of 2025.
To note, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i is the company’s newest product offering. Its sole variant is priced at P1.548 million, and it boasts a powertrain capable of covering a total driving range of 1,100 kilometers (km). The Sealion 6 can also produce up to 214 horsepower and 325 Newton-meters of torque while providing an electronic-only range of 100 km.
