On what platform is the BYD Atto3 built?
The BYD Atto3 is built on the e-Platform 3.0, which is exclusively designed for its next generation of pure electric vehicles to offer faster charging with longer range. What tests were done on the BYD Blade Battery to ensure its safety?
The BYD Blade Battery underwent extreme testing, such as being crushed, bent, being heated in a furnace to 300 degrees Celsius, and being overcharged by 260 percent. It also passed the nail penetration test.Packed with innovative features, the Atto3 is built on the Chinese automaker’s e-Platform 3.0, which is exclusively designed for its next generation of pure electric vehicles to offer faster charging with longer range.
Embedded in the e-Platform 3.0 is the proprietary, ultra-safe BYD Blade Battery.
“The BYD Blade Battery was launched in 2020. It is engineered to be safer, provide longer range, and last several thousand cycles, all in compact size, allowing for more vehicle space. It passed extreme zero tests, making it one of the world's safest batteries. Its innovative construction offers greater efficiency, since it packs more battery capacity in less space,” Mobility Access Philippines Ventures Incorporated President Antonio Zara III explained during the Atto3 launch event.
To guarantee the safety of the Blade Battery, it underwent extreme testing, such as being crushed, bent, being heated in a furnace to 300 degrees Celsius, and being overcharged by 260 percent. Impressively, not a single one of these led to an explosion or fire.
The Blade Battery also passed the nail penetration test without releasing any smoke or fire after being punctured and reaching a surface temperature of only 30 to 60 degrees Celsius.
Using the 2.3-kilowatt (kW) portable charger, the Blade Battery of the Atto3 can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 15 to 21 hours. Meanwhile, the 7-kW home charger enables five hours of charging. The battery can also be charged through a public direct current 180-kW fast charger in as fast as 30 minutes.
The Atto3 can reach up to 480 kilometers on a single charge.
Another notable feature is the vehicle-to-load capability, allowing the stored energy to be used in powering electronic devices.
The BYD Atto3 comes in two variants, Dynamic and Premium, priced at P1.598 million and P1.798 million, respectively.
